Thanks! Yeah, far too much time watching old war movies as a kid. WWI seems so much more romanciful 90 years on and not through a cloud of mustard gas.roundel v11.jpg

Dunno know what you mean, but IMHO it'is handy to know where this Frecce Tricolori come from.

No, not at all, Frecce Tricoli becomes poupulair with the crash in Germany in 1988.

That's far away from WW1.

WW1 was 1915-1918. The crash of the Frecce Tricolori was 70 years later.

I was unaware of the crash until these posts. I was using what I thought was the adopted insignia of the Italian army flying corps in for WWI and the air corps for WWII. But am not Italian nor an expert (understatement tongue.gif) on 20th century Italian history.

I got curious about the roundel being red or green centered. As far as I can google, the red belongs to WWI with the allies and the green center to WWII post axis.
