Yes, regrettably, that would be us. :(

As I had feared, our impending move to Virginia has made this impossible for us.

The ONLY days we could arrange for moving out of our Atlanta home meant packers on that Friday -- 22 June -- and loading the following Monday, 25 June.

So, we will drive up on Saturday to join the ride ... but in the MINI. The EV is back in Atlanta, and Jay Hines is going to ride it up to Virginia for me, but it has a flat tire and no battery right now. No time out here in Milan to repair before SSR8. But in the MINI we can be the SSR8 "support vehicle" for the Saturday ride. :D

That leaves our nice room with jacuzzi, etc., available if anyone is interested. http://www.lodgeattellico.com/default.htm

OBTW, re lodging in the general area just noticed that the Tapaco Lodge has reopened: http://tapocolodge.com/

Alas, your presence in whatever physical form (texting doesn't count) will mean that you have never missed a Spine Raid. You ought to have a prize. :sun:

Oh . . . wait - you do have a prize:

It is looking like six of us leaving middle Tennessee Friday morning running all backroads over to TellicoPlains. Breakfast at MarcyJo's Mealhouse (4 miles east of I65/exit 46 at the junction of TN99 and US 431) around 0800 and eastward bound by 9-9:30.

Yo, docc, what time are you launching the Sat a.m. ride?

Got a PM from a Guzzista who wondered, and, actually, Kathi and I need to know, too, so I can build in time for discussing law with an enforcement officer on the way up from Atlanta that morning?

I'm thinking we should head east at 0900 EDT assuming everyone is already fueled up and Walt can have s fed by then.

That should get us over the Cherohala and to the store at Deal's Gap in a couple hours to observe the carnival festivities and let anyone who wants to earn their T-shirt on the Tail of the Dragon. Then off to Franklin and lunch at The Sunset.

Back to the Cherohala via Wayah Gap and Nantahala Lake.

Looking forward to seeing everyone!

Also, likely to have two distinct rolling gaggles: ALLEGRO and normale.

Ride well. And hydrate - looks like the 90s F. The Sport vapor locked after parking today for the first time ever (82,000 miles).

Great weekend and temps were "perfect" (we'll after 8:00pm when the beer tempered the heat of the day). I had a great time with those that were able to make it. I missed many of you! For those who couldn't attend you missed a Bear Riding a Motor and the fastest Ambassador 750 I've ever seen!

Thanks Docc for putting together a great non-event!!!

What a great bunch of guys to both ride with and sit about on the veranda and tell ever taller tales.

Tech session revealed: Yes, you can carry an entire case of ale in the expandable Guzzi/Tekno panniers (why did you think they were"expandable?") -

Looking like we already have a police escort may kept that last Trooper from throwing in with us:

Just sipping an espresso (yes, of course, with a whiff of grappa :drink: ) in Milan and wondering where docc might have planned to hold SSRIX. :helmet:

Unfortunately, it's Milan, Illinois, and, worse, as I am retiring next summer, not sure I'll be able to get away to attend this one. After missing SSRVIII, that is shameful performance.

OTOH, it's a delightful 500-miler down to Tellico Plains from Cross Junction, Virginia, so, if not this time, I can look forward to SSRX. :race:
