Baldini Posted January 15, 2012 Posted January 15, 2012 Welcome. I think carbon is just a sleeve over metal cans, but I have never stripped cans or x-over - I found these in "how to" section: http://www.v11lemans.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=3028 http://www.v11lemans.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=947 This in FAQ: http://www.v11lemans.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=501 Dunno if there's anything in there to help. Good luck, KB

I've never seen this before. All the carbon cans I've ever worked on are a perforated tube surrounded by fibreglass packing and a carbon sleeve only.Works well but you have to be dilligent with the assembling and maintaining of the glass packing because any direct leakage internally onto the carbon skin will burn it in a short time. Some carbon skins have a type of metal flame spray on the inner surface to help with this. You will see this by brown marks and eventually it will burn through. Ciao
gavo Posted January 16, 2012 Posted January 16, 2012 I also have a rosso mandello, and yes the carbon fibre is only a shell but can be hard to slide off. Also there is a foil wrap between the fibre and the muffler, you'll likely destroy this when you remove the fibre sleeve, no matter mine went back together without it and no problems and it'll slide back together slightly easier. Haven't checked out the crossover. The result was a better note and no mixture changes required.
