Thanks for the feedback. Good eye Kiwi Roy, it is an aftermarket one. Not sure which. I picked up the bike as is - I feel like Inspector Clouseau trying to untangle the history of the electrical system...

UPDATE:

Confirmed the battery is grounded as well as the Voltage Reg.

I've also replaced the front signal bulbs with LED versions (now my entire brake/turn light system is LED). When I picked up the bike only the rear as LED and the front was original. Mixing LED and incandescent is problematic - likely from varied power draw but I'm not really an electrical expert.

I've noticed something interesting about the turn signals and there may be a connection to my battery indicator. I got the following behaviour:

- Motor Off, Power On: Turn signals flash and appropriate frequency

- Motor Idle, Power On: Turn signal flash frequency seem slightly increased and pattern slightly erratic

- 3000 RPM: Turn signal frequency is very high - they almost appear to be ON rather than flashing

NOTE: The headlight stays perfectly lit during all this.

Can anyone point me in the right direction in diagnosing this?

Is this signs of a faulty voltage regulator?

Could it be a relay or bad 12V resistor (there's one installed under the seat - I assume its for the rear LED lights)?
