I wonder if anyone has as the computed speed for riding the v11 sport in top gear at 4k, 5k, and 6k rpms?

Indicated speed (ala Vagueliar) or actual speed (ala GPS)?

I wanted actual actual. like tire circumference times X gears X RPM. I thought someone might have that. calculated speed from RPM in top gear.

at 6k it's going pretty quickly.

I figured out the following info within the first 3 months of owning my bike because research showed it was only a matter of time before the speedo crapped out - and it did.

At 3000rpm (in any gear except 1st) is going the same mph as the gear x10. e.g. 3,000 rpm in 3rd is 30mph, 3,000rpm in 4th is 40mph, 3,000rpm in 5th gear is 50. 3,000 in 6th gear does NOT make for a happy V11.

In 5th gear 5,000rpm is 80mph. 6th gear at 5,000rpm is approximately 90mph. I would estimate that 6,000 is in the triple digits .

Since mid-June I've done about 5,000 miles of trouble free riding on those figures. However, I've finally purchased a replacement speedo cable/drive because the bike feels REALLY good around (and above) 6,000. All vibes go away and it just rides beautifully. Without the speedo telling me how fast I'm going it's way too easy to justify that good feeling instead of slowing back down.

Today, I saw the following in 6th gear using ZUMO GPS:

4,000 rpm: 67 mph

5,000 rpm: 83 mph

Didn't try for 6,000 as I was in a 55 mph zone with traffic.

Also, the Sport has a 160 profile rear tire.

actually my V11 (unlike my EV) does fine at 3k in 6th. It pulls like a train really. that's one reason I wanted to know the speed. whoever set up the tune made a strong midrange on this one.

I would guess that 6k would put it about 101 mph (I think I have the narrow rear tire...quick handling)

Did someone else verify your EXACT speed for you ?

I told you it was a good runner.. :rasta:

Well what is the actual final drive ratio? I've read 4.37 but then there's these primary reduction ratios of 1.6842 and secondary reduction ratios of 2.909 how do they figure in? because I've calculated a lot of different scenarios with a .8519 6th gear ration and a 25 in tall tire (170/60x17) and I'm not coming up with your numbers

I ran the numbers a few years back but I haven't verified them with GPS or radar.

From http://www.v11lemans.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=13940&hl=speed

RPM = MPH

8000 = 141.39

7500 = 132.55

7000 = 123.72

6500 = 114.88

6000 = 106.04

5500 = 97.21

5000 = 88.37

4500 = 79.53

4000 = 70.7

3500 = 61.86

3000 = 53.02

2500 = 44.18

cool,,,just what I was looking for....I doubt the bike will pull much more than 7k in top gear if that.

OK I get it now. Looking at all your previous calculations the 1.6842 primary reduction times the 2.909 secondary reduction equals 4.89 which is the final drive ratio and the 4.37 that I found somewhere else on the net is bogus. Thanks
