helicopterjim R.I.P. Posted November 19, 2013 Author Posted November 19, 2013 Beer train? Sounds like the perfect venue for a 2014 meeting….. I'm going to Scotland next year .... but now I sense the holiday is going to get a bit longer!!
Admin Jaap Posted November 20, 2013 Posted November 20, 2013 @ Jim, are you serious about visiting Scotland? Maybe a Guzzi meeting would be something to incorporate in your holiday trip?@ Guzzirider, any dates already available on Guzzi meetings in 2014?
helicopterjim R.I.P. Posted November 20, 2013 Author Posted November 20, 2013 Definitely serous .... probably two weeks touring with family and one week on my own. No dates set yet but likely June or July. 1
Guzzirider Posted November 23, 2013 Posted November 23, 2013 Calendar is blank at the moment except Tour De France in July. Happy to organise something if there is enough interest. 1
Admin Jaap Posted November 25, 2013 Posted November 25, 2013 I have planned my holiday in the last two weeks of June, so you can count me in! 1
AndyH Posted November 25, 2013 Posted November 25, 2013 Since we've been talking whisky in this thread and you're going to Scotland, you may wish to read: Raw Spirit: In Search of the Perfect Dram by the late lamented Iain Banks, novelist and sci fi author who passed this year. May it guide your footsteps well, if rather wobbly.
helicopterjim R.I.P. Posted November 25, 2013 Author Posted November 25, 2013 Since we've been talking whisky in this thread and you're going to Scotland, There is also a very entertaining movie called "The Angels Share" about whisky tasting and whisky stealing - two great auld Scots sports ...... however understanding the Scots tongue may take some effort if you are not familiar with the language. http://youtu.be/0yJCVfKZ_fE I'll let my brother know that the last two weeks of June would be best for me as well.
helicopterjim R.I.P. Posted December 2, 2013 Author Posted December 2, 2013 December 1 ..... first day of the craft beer advent calendar!!!! MAPLE PORTER Uploaded with ImageShack.us Uploaded with ImageShack.us
helicopterjim R.I.P. Posted December 4, 2013 Author Posted December 4, 2013 I forgot to mention that the Maple Porter is brewed by Better Bitters Brewing Co., Burlington, Ontario, Canada. Nice porter ... not too bitter, not rich tasting and just a hint of maple syrup flavour.
helicopterjim R.I.P. Posted December 4, 2013 Author Posted December 4, 2013 Day 2Kudzu Porter brewed by the Back Forty Brewing Co., Gadsden, Alabama. Very nice porter .... nice finish. Two or three more would go down nicely! Uploaded with ImageShack.us
helicopterjim R.I.P. Posted December 4, 2013 Author Posted December 4, 2013 Day 3 Cucapa Obscura American Brown Ale .... brewed by Cucapa Cerveceria de Baja California, Mexico. Very nice ... light taste, light but long finish!
helicopterjim R.I.P. Posted December 5, 2013 Author Posted December 5, 2013 Day 4 Black Currant Ale .... Yukon Brewing, Whitehorse, Yukon, Canada Another nice surprising beer. Not very malty and not fruity but quite crisp for an ale ... the black currant only shows on the finish. The alcohol is 6.7% but it tastes very light but very refreshing!! Uploaded with ImageShack.us
docc Posted December 5, 2013 Posted December 5, 2013 Enjoying this everyday, Jim! But it makes mouth a little dry . . . 1
helicopterjim R.I.P. Posted December 5, 2013 Author Posted December 5, 2013 Maybe I should post videos .... complete with slurping sounds ....?!! Four down .... twenty to go!!!
helicopterjim R.I.P. Posted December 6, 2013 Author Posted December 6, 2013 Day 5 Newport Storm .... Hurricane Amber Ale Coastal Extreme Brewing, Newport, Rhode Island Sorry to say but this is just an OK beer .... but I am always willing to give a beer a second chance! I think just a little bit too German style ...... which to me is a negative for an ale .... they make lager .. don't they? Uploaded with ImageShack.us
