gavo Posted July 11, 2013 Posted July 11, 2013 Hey you guys are lucky, they don't even come to Oz and I'd love to see them. I can get some extra concert tickets if you get the plane tickets!! I bought my first Hawkwind album in 1974 ... I still have all the LP's up to about 1984 plus some EP's and singles. I'll be setting up the turnatable in the basement this fall if anyone wants to drop by. Don't forget the purple microdot! Thanks for the offer but with an all up cost of about $1800 I think the finance and entertainment minister (wife) would scream. $1800 would buy a lot of microdots and I have turntable. LOL 1

helicopterjim R.I.P. Posted September 10, 2013 Author Posted September 10, 2013 Hmmmm ... I might just catch the Bellingham gig when I come back from seeing Hawkwind in Toronto. Too bad they can't get along yet ...... all of them weirdly talented!!
GraeV11 Posted October 1, 2013 Posted October 1, 2013 Might just happen Jim. The latest from Nik . . . DEAR FRIENDS, HELPERS, ENTHUSIASTS, SUPPORTERS, INTER-DIMENSIONAL TRAVELLERS, INTERGALACTIC ALIENS, ALL SENTIENT BEINGS, MUSIC LOVERS AND BEINGS ON THE SAME COSMIC VIBRATIONS, I WISH TO SAY HOW MUCH I AM LOOKING FORWARD TO MY BAND AND MY, IMMINENT TOUR OF U.S.A.,, STARTING ON OCTOBER 9TH. I’M AWARE THAT THE BAND HAWKWIND HAPPEN TO BE TOURING AT THE SAME TIME, AS ME, I WISH THEM EVERY SUCCESS, AND IT WOULD BE NICE IF DAVE AND I COULD ACTUALLY PLAY TOGETHER, ON A STAGE SOMEWHERE ON OUR TOURS, JUST LIKE THE OLD DAYS, BURY THE HATCHET, WORK TOGETHER, WE HAVE BEEN VERY GOOD FRIENDS IN THE PAST. I THOUGHT ABOUT DAVE AND ME INVITING LEMMY TO JOIN US, GET A BAND TOGETHER WITH US- [sOUNDS LIKE THE BLUES BROTHERS],- AND DO A WORLD TOUR. SOUNDS LIKE IT COULD BE FUN TOO, LIFE IS TOO SHORT TO WORRY ABOUT ALL THE TRIVIAL IRRELEVANT BULLSHITE, SO LET’S ALL BE FRIENDS, LOVE ONE-ANOTHER, WE’RE ALL DIFFERENT, LET’S ENJOY OUR DIFFERENCES. , IF YOU COME TO ONE OF MY SHOWS, COME SAY HELLO. ONE WORLD, ONE SOURCE, ONE MIND,, ONE COSMOS , ONE LOVE, LOVE TO YOU ALL ,NIK XXXXXXX
helicopterjim R.I.P. Posted October 12, 2013 Author Posted October 12, 2013 That sounds magnanimous but unfortunately it seems that Nik is still suing Hawkwind and the tour has been postponed until spring. Bugger ....! Sent from my electronic device!
GraeV11 Posted October 12, 2013 Posted October 12, 2013 Yes, in a subsequent post he sticks the knife into Mr Brock. Shame, they are running out of time. Dave has copyright over the Hawkwind name in the UK, Nik has it in the US.
helicopterjim R.I.P. Posted October 12, 2013 Author Posted October 12, 2013 I know ..... fecking sad! I still have tickets ... they will be valid if there is a tour in March.
luhbo Posted October 12, 2013 Posted October 12, 2013 Looking up Hawkwind, why all that stir, I found this quote Lemmy then teamed up with another Pink Fairies guitarist, Larry Wallis, to form Motörhead, named after the last song he had written for Hawkwind. .. and a short piece of Silvermachine. Man, that was '72 already Hubert 1
LowRyter Posted October 12, 2013 Posted October 12, 2013 geeees. that's a name I haven't heard in 35 years. I have one of their albums but no room to plug in a turntable.
PhilPassmore Posted August 4, 2014 Posted August 4, 2014 Hawkwind is touring again this year ... including North America!! The tour will feature the album Warrior on the Edge of Time ... one of my favourites ..... (as is every other album). I have tickets to Toronto on October 7th. http://www.hawkwindmuseum.co.uk/tour%20dates.htm#Warrior_On_The_Edge_Of_Time_2 Sorry ... this computer won't let me post the link any other way ... Went to see them in Bradford UK in about '81. Not an experience I would repeat, sorry.

Listening to them on vinyl was fine, but live didn't do them any favours at that venue (St Georges Hall IIRC). It may of course have been down to poor production, but even 'Silver Machine', quite a hit here, didn't move me anything like the way I thought it would. Phil
AndyH Posted August 14, 2014 Posted August 14, 2014 We played Silver Machine at my brother-in-law's funeral last month: never really thought much of it before as it was always on in the College bar when I was a student so I just ignored it after a while. Kind of put a different spin on it for me: thought it was kind of cool after all as we carried the box in to that whooshing sound. I got a silver machine too as it happens. 2
