ROCKY MOUNTAIN MOTOGIRO NAKUSP BRITISH COLUMBIA SEPTEMBER 13, 14 AND 15, 2013 Rocky Mountain MotoGiro is an event promoted by the Rocky Mountain Section of the Canadian Vintage Motorcycle Group. It is one day of road riding on public roads at legal speed limits and a second day of closed road timed riding. The event is fashioned after the original Giro Motociclistico d'Italia, an endurance race comprising 3,400 km in 8 legs through mountain roads down the length of the boot. All road racing in Italy was banned in 1957 after a horrific accident in the Mille Miglia race, spelling an end to the Giro. The endurance portion of the Rocky Mountain MotoGiro will take place over 300 kilometers in four legs, points being awarded for the ability of the participant to travel each leg at the average posted speed limit. The event will start and end in Nakusp B.C. The closed road portion of the event will be in Nakusp on the Nakusp Hot Springs road, a 12 km mountain road, mostly up hill. This will be timed with points being awarded in two classes, 125cc and under and 250cc and under. Points will also be awarded for the age of the machine, older machines being awarded more points than newer machines; size of machine, smaller machines being awarded more points than the larger machines and in recognition of the original event and the participants of the time, points will be awarded for the origin of the machine, most points for Italian machines, next for European machines, next for Japanese and American machines Points will be awarded and awards given for fit and finish, judged by a participant's choice A chase vehicle will be following the participants Eligible bikes will be as follows: 250cc for 4 stroke machines up to 1974 200cc for 2 stroke machines from 1970 to 1974 250cc for 2 stroke machines prior to 1970 350cc for machines from to 1949 to 1959 500cc for machines 1939 to 1949 All machines prior to 1939
