LowRyter Posted March 22, 2014 Posted March 22, 2014 I have a 2004 bike, changed the spring at 20000 miles ish!!!!. Nothing wrong with the original but i was beginning to get paranoid. (original is now a good spare). There has certainly been 2004 bikes had the spring go but dont know if it is common. The gearbox is just splash lubricated. So how big is the cup!! why wouldn't you just throw the old one away and spend another $6 for a spare? The big deal is the labor- not the part. Why would you reinstall a part that you went to the trouble to remove in the first place?
grossohc Posted March 22, 2014 Posted March 22, 2014 I keep the old one as I do not think there is anything wrong with it. As for labour costs, well that would be me as I maintain the bike.
LowRyter Posted March 22, 2014 Posted March 22, 2014 I just wouldn't want to take it apart twice for a $6 part....
Craig Posted March 23, 2014 Author Posted March 23, 2014 I had this problem a while back and sorted it by slight adjustment of the height of the lever! I found the lever got stuck down as it hit the 'pork chop' this seems to have worked for me so far but ill keep ye all posted if that changes. What is the 'pork chop'?

Porkchops are the frame plates where your footpegs are located, (Spine speak)
Craig Posted March 23, 2014 Author Posted March 23, 2014 Porkchops are the frame plates where your footpegs are located, (Spine speak) Thanks. I will check that clearance.
