Guest Le Man Posted January 9, 2004 Posted January 9, 2004 Just pulled my fork tubes yesterday and allowed to drain overnight into a cup. Amount of oil recovered from each leg was just below .5 litre. Manual calls for .84 litre per leg. Local dealer says the remainder is trapped in the leg and this is normal and just add what came out. My feeling is the forks were underfilled from the first and now is the time to fill them up. What do you think gentlemen? Mike
Guest Tmartin Posted January 9, 2004 Posted January 9, 2004 On my 2000 Sport I dissambled the fork legs to get the fluid out. However after doing this I discovered that if the spring is removed and the fork tube is held upside down and then pumped in and out you can get all the fluid out. The spring is easy to remove and reinstall as I recall. Hope this helps.
Guest Le Man Posted January 9, 2004 Posted January 9, 2004 Thanks for the response. I have answered my own question however. In the back part of the manual it gives the total fork oil required as .84 litre, in the front part (specs) it gives the amount per leg as .42 litre. So I guess I was right on from the factory. Now to put it all back together and ride! Mike
docc Posted January 10, 2004 Posted January 10, 2004 So, Mike, what kind of oil did you use? ( Let's all admit: we love oil. we think about oil, talk about oil. We love the way it looks, smells and feels. We can't resist an oil thread. The only thing better is a suspension thread and this thread is both!)
