Denis Posted June 20, 2014 Posted June 20, 2014 Whisky thread. Drinking Talisker Storm on a Friday night. What's your single malt favourite? Regards Denis
jwh20 Posted June 20, 2014 Posted June 20, 2014 I'm not a fan of Scotch, single malt or otherwise. But I do like a good bourbon. I recently bought a bottle of Makers 46 and found it to be a very nice whiskey.
stewgnu Posted June 20, 2014 Posted June 20, 2014 Love the A'bunadh. That should read: Luuurv the A'bunadh! Did you try6 the Dark Storm? Didn't think twas as nice as the Normal Storm. Stew
Denis Posted June 20, 2014 Author Posted June 20, 2014 A good Welsh single malt is Penderyn , I have been at their distillery tour, not too far from where I live. Can't make my mind up better the " ordinary" single malts, or the peated\ smoked malts. Give me. Your favourites please.
Trevini Posted June 21, 2014 Posted June 21, 2014 These are my two favourites... http:// The Ballentines is blended rather than single malt, but qualifies as it's a blend of single malts aged from 10-21 years and left to mature for a further 15 years in Oak barrels. Both are limited run selected/special reserves.
AndyH Posted June 22, 2014 Posted June 22, 2014 Between A'bunadh and Bunnahabhainn - both of them really fine, but for me, I think the Bunnahabhainn has it.
docc Posted June 22, 2014 Posted June 22, 2014 Should I be shocked that Guzzi guys gravitate to whisky that smells like gearoil leaking on an exhaust crossover? 2
Denis Posted June 22, 2014 Author Posted June 22, 2014 This bottle of Talisker Storm must be faulty, I bought it on Friday evening and it was full. It's Sunday evening now, and there's only half of it left............ The bottle must be leaking, or it is evaporation.......
stewgnu Posted June 22, 2014 Posted June 22, 2014 Tried the Auchentoshan three wood last night- if you like a fresh, sweet and oaky dram I'd recommend it. Stew
docc Posted June 22, 2014 Posted June 22, 2014 . . . there's only half of it left............ The bottle must be leaking, or it is evaporation....... "Why's the (whisky) always gone? . . . Oh. That's why."
Orson Posted June 23, 2014 Posted June 23, 2014 I'm far from a single malt connoussiere but, I thought I'd post this trip report to Islay & Jura on my Thruxton (sorry, no Guzzi content). Despite the lack of thrilling motorcycling roads, the isles are very much a worthwhile destination: http://orsonstravels.wordpress.com/tag/isle-of-jura/
stewgnu Posted June 23, 2014 Posted June 23, 2014 Despite the lack of thrilling motorcycling roads, the isles are very much a worthwhile destination: I'm off up to visit my pal in Kilmarnock in a couple of weeks for a jaunt over to Skye- he says it's breathtakingly lovely. Also hoping to ride the A9 before they turn the speed cameras on!
AndyH Posted June 23, 2014 Posted June 23, 2014 Skye is indeed lovely. So's the whisky. Its midges are not. They come out before the A9 cameras are switched on.
