stewgnu Posted May 19, 2015 Posted May 19, 2015 Grabbed a bottle of the Glengoyne 10 yr old. A man with broken clox and a recently expired MOT needs some comfort. Now that's a tasty beverage, and keenly priced too! Stew
sp838 Posted May 19, 2015 Posted May 19, 2015 I've been alternating between a bottle of Finlaggan and Dalwhinnie.
Jet Posted May 20, 2015 Posted May 20, 2015 Scapa, for a light citrous flavour. Delicious. Bruichladdich 22 year old if you like Caramel. And the go to dram is Chivas 12 or 18. Has anyone ever had Japans Yamazuka, am I spelling that right?
Admin Jaap Posted May 20, 2015 Posted May 20, 2015 Not a SM, but I got this for my birthday: Highly recommended!!!
stewgnu Posted May 20, 2015 Posted May 20, 2015 Not a SM, but I got this for my birthday: Highly recommended!!! Mmmm, I bet that's nice. I got a bottle of the Ron Zacapa 25 a couple of burpdays ago- have you tried that one? I can't recommend it highly enough! Also, the Gosling Family Reserve was equally superb.

Has anyone ever had Japans Yamazuka, am I spelling that right? Yamazaki - it's delightful, a nice body and complex with a good balance. Not the gear oil I usually drink, but more sophisticated. Reminds me of my GB 500! Somehow (read: motowfo), Ron Zacapa showed up at the last Spine Raid. Fabulous! It certainly rivals some of the fine single malts.
stewgnu Posted July 24, 2015 Posted July 24, 2015 Mah wife is havin a red-neck themed burpday party tonight.... There'll be mullets, cherry-stone spittin, a hog squealin contest, a surfeit o dungarees and baseball caps. I thought: 'Hot daymn, ahl git me some good sippin whisky for the occasion.' I had a hand on the good ol' Woodford Reserve kentucky.... but settled on a bottle of Highland Park 12yo. As it eys a mowst delectable beverage.

helicopterjim R.I.P. Posted August 2, 2015 Posted August 2, 2015 Found this jug of moonshine in the basement of moms house ...... my dad bottled this one in July 1985. His moonshine was aged in second hand whisky or rum barrels (there was a distillery a couple of miles away we sold grain to ...... they gave away old barrels back then). My brother and I gave it a try and man, oh man, was this stuff smooth. We'll be hanging on to this one for special occasions!
helicopterjim R.I.P. Posted August 2, 2015 Posted August 2, 2015 Mom and dad (left side) and another farmer just after bottling some 'shine' ....... 1986 ........ I'm the same age now as they were in the photo. I guess I'm more refined as I make wine!
macguzzi Posted December 22, 2015 Posted December 22, 2015 I can highly recommend Kilchoman Madeira finish.
docc Posted December 24, 2015 Posted December 24, 2015 Lots o' Scotch Tape® going down here t'night . . . Suffering through it with a selection of craft ales. oi, but for some proper Islay single malt . . .
