dangerous Posted June 30, 2014 Posted June 30, 2014 whats the deal here? the crank breather runs into the spine frame and out the top... why? wont the frame be fill a slime and or rust?
fotoguzzi Posted June 30, 2014 Posted June 30, 2014 only the oil vapor escapes thru the top.. when it condenses the oil in there drains through the rusty frame member and back to the motor.
GuzziMoto Posted June 30, 2014 Posted June 30, 2014 The front section of the spine frame is used as an oil separator. There is a return line back to the sump for the oil the gets separated out. As long as it is exposed to oil mist I seriously doubt it is rusty. If it is you are using the wrong oil.
dangerous Posted July 1, 2014 Author Posted July 1, 2014 ahhh... so there must be a inwards line aswell, biks hard to get to at the mo so Ill have a look, its true ya do learn shit every day
GuzziMoto Posted July 1, 2014 Posted July 1, 2014 The return line should run from the middle of the spine to the back of the sump. The spine is actually internally sectioned and the front half is the oil separator. On my Daytona they did not weld the frame well and the oil leaks into the back half and down to the cross tub at the back of the spine. There it drips. Annoying.
LowRyter Posted November 9, 2014 Posted November 9, 2014 OK, let me ask, is this symptom of a cracked breather hose? appreciate your help
czakky Posted November 10, 2014 Posted November 10, 2014 Could be, or transmission leak. My transmission leak looks similar to that. Never drips though. I would clean it up and with a good degreaser.
dangerous Posted November 10, 2014 Author Posted November 10, 2014 yeah as above, clean it up and then trace it after a short ride
gstallons Posted November 10, 2014 Posted November 10, 2014 when you get the fuel pump problem fixed , purchase an engine oil dye and a UV light to test for the exact leak spot (s) . You can purchase the fluid at a good parts store and Fluke makes a good ( RLD 2 ) UV light to find the leak .
