TX REDNECK (R.I.P.) Posted January 15, 2004 Posted January 15, 2004 Ahh ! so this is Toad's wild ride
Admin Jaap Posted January 15, 2004 Posted January 15, 2004 Actually that's a toad. Think automobile. Frog, toad... same difference... Well, at least everybody has seen a lot of disappeared french bike brands... I haven't got a clue, but from what I gather it's a well known italian car manufacturer that made a bicycle and thought "hey, let's try if this lawnmower enfine fits and race it!"
Ralph Werner Posted January 15, 2004 Author Posted January 15, 2004 The story is that the owner of the agency that first sold this bike said "what an ugly toad" when she first saw it and the name stuck. I hope she wasn't referring to her husband. Man, these winters are long and cold!
Ralph Werner Posted January 16, 2004 Author Posted January 16, 2004 OK. "Rospo" became the name of this model (that's Italian for toad).
Admin Jaap Posted January 16, 2004 Posted January 16, 2004 Googled for Rospo and found the picture: Maserati. I never would have found that by myself . Good quiz!
Ralph Werner Posted January 16, 2004 Author Posted January 16, 2004 If you lack the $200,000 or so for a Maserati sports car, this Tipo 50/T2/SS (super sport???) might be the answer. You can all share in the prize:
belfastguzzi Posted January 16, 2004 Posted January 16, 2004 ...they just don't make them like that anymore
