rossi46 Posted October 1, 2014 Posted October 1, 2014 Hi, I purchased a X-over when I went to Mandello recently, I've had it on for about 1500 miles, today whilst out for a run the bike lost power and started to sound loud, I pulled over and found that the x over had completely come apart at a weld! I managed to limp to a garage and did a repair to get me home. I have e mailed the seller, Agostini's, will wait to see what they say, but what to do,get it repaired? junk it? Has anyone had any issue before with one? It is the type that does away with the support bracket- cheers
Admin Jaap Posted October 1, 2014 Posted October 1, 2014 I've never seen an aftermarket x-over (Mistral or stucchi) crack in that place ! Are you sure you mounted it tension free? Sent from a clever thingy with a microprocessor and an interweb connection
rossi46 Posted October 1, 2014 Author Posted October 1, 2014 yes sure I did, loosened everything and took my time when fitting cracked clean through!
Steve S Posted October 2, 2014 Posted October 2, 2014 My mate had one of these on his Scura and after welding it up twice he has junked it and gone back to the stock one, I recently bought a Mistral item and that was a loose fit on all four pipes and wouldn't tighten up so that went on Ebay, the stock collector is stronger and offers very little restriction. It's a long way to send it back so if you want to keep it get it welded
rossi46 Posted October 2, 2014 Author Posted October 2, 2014 yes live and learn, no word from Ago's yet-original back on! no work today so off for a blast to cheer me up
Steve S Posted October 2, 2014 Posted October 2, 2014 That looks like a bottle of Chianti and a long lunch "weld". and why is it made up of 10 bits of pipe when 2 would do it?
Admin Jaap Posted October 3, 2014 Posted October 3, 2014 This x-over type i have never seen. But it sure looks like a piece of (s)crap.
Lucky Phil Posted October 3, 2014 Posted October 3, 2014 Im sure Agostini's will look after you, Ive had good dealings with them in the past Ciao
Baldini Posted October 3, 2014 Posted October 3, 2014 This x-over type i have never seen. But it sure looks like a piece of (s)crap. Do you know manufacturer? Agostinis website shows a piece similar to yours, but with a mount plate fitted: http://www.torquepowermotorcycles.com.au/store/index.php?route=product/product&path=75&product_id=111 Stucchi x-over that I have (below) is basically 2 tubes. It also has a mountplate:
rossi46 Posted October 3, 2014 Author Posted October 3, 2014 unsure of the brand, nothing on there to say, bought it when over there last month, no word from them yet!
Admin Jaap Posted October 3, 2014 Posted October 3, 2014 The Stucchi is expensive, but much better quality than the Mistral
stockport claret Posted October 4, 2014 Posted October 4, 2014 this is the Mistral crossover, it to has a support bracket.

Maybe they had them made up locally? Have you heard anything from Agostinis? As a matter of interest, I came across this dyno comparison: http://www.bikeboy.org/v11sport.html
