Until 2003 “long nose” models (Café, Coppa, Scura R, Ballabio) the spare part books also confirms this. Sport Naked = metallic, chrome ring fixed with a screw. Scura and LeMans models = plastic, rubber ring around the chrome ring. Surprisingly USA models have different spare part numbers. From 2003 on the headlight looks like a metallic one, although there is the small fairing. Also the Rosso Mandello had a metallic one, I think?

Spare part book 2003 (Sport Naked, LeMans, Rosso Corsa)

Great stuff Camn, nice research. Im guessing the USA specific part numbers are related to the lens pattern/beam shaping aspect of the glass.

From the parts catalog "V11 Sport/Mandello 1999-2001:

Cmplete headlight - - AUS-J-MAL-NZ-SGP         UK  - - GU03740545
        Headlight - - - - -                    GU03740540

These, for sure, are the metal ones, the AUS/UK version having a different lens pattern as chamberlin has said.

It is curios that the later Nakeds have a unique number  (GU03740430)  even though they are fork mounted. Are the later Nakeds not metal buckets?

I am on my 4th headlight, 2 i have had broken by flying stones cracking the glass, but the headlamp buckets are prone to cracking on cafe sport, ballabio etc. i have a spare sitting in the garage as i know the fitted one will go sometime. It is the same headlamp as the breva 750, so trawl eBay etc. for a bargain.

Interesting, my Scura has a metal one with indentations.

This would at least confirm that Guzzi is at least consistent with its inconsistency. Which number do you have slowkitty?
