Gottagetone Posted February 4, 2015 Posted February 4, 2015 Has anyone made the change over to LED indicator lights? I like the look of the smaller turn signals and brake light plus they are brighter than the stock lights. I am thinking about fabbing up a license plate holder and attaching it down by the rear axel and getting rid of the stock license plate holder and brake light mount. Id like to add add a slim brake light in place of the old and change out the turn signals with something a little more sleek similar to this: http://revivalcycles.com/collections/for-your-ride-bestsellers/products/flexible-led-taillight and something like this for the turn signals: http://revivalcycles.com/collections/for-your-ride-bestsellers I understand that I may need a capacitor for each set of lights but want to confirm this...has anyone done this mod? Thanks in advance
moto fugazzi Posted February 4, 2015 Posted February 4, 2015 You may be able to just replace the flasher unit with a mechanical one that regulates the flashing accordingly. I haven't tried one on a V11, but I've used these on similar Japanese bikes. http://www.delcity.net/store/Electromechanical-Flashers/p_90171.h_90270.t_1.r_IF1003?mkwid=IBiyd8xL&crid=38094426869&gclid=Cj0KEQiAgMKmBRDMjo_F9OfUubABEiQAp8Ky1znp7d3YqFQywivEsVnEl4ruBS2TLeNOezlADkTVN5QaAtaQ8P8HAQ A search here may help you out, or others may chime in shortly. FYI, the flasher is located under the seat, next to the battery. Ken
Scud Posted February 4, 2015 Posted February 4, 2015 Rizoma make some great looking LED indicators and they sell a compatible flasher. They're not cheap. I looked into them, but decided against. Instead I just shortened the fender and tinted the turn signal lenses. I did get their fluid tanks, which are very high quality. http://www.rizoma.com/universal/indicator-lights/en
waspp Posted February 4, 2015 Posted February 4, 2015 Something like this? I did this many moons ago, the tail light came from a guy on this board I think and the led indicators were eBay items. All are very bright and have worked well.
Gottagetone Posted February 5, 2015 Author Posted February 5, 2015 That's very close and looks sweet. I would like to relocate the license plate down low and really clean up the tail end. 1
Gottagetone Posted February 5, 2015 Author Posted February 5, 2015 Did you have to add resistors to make that setup work?
waspp Posted February 5, 2015 Posted February 5, 2015 I believe it was an electronic flasher relay or one from custom dynamics. http://www.customdynamics.com/loadequalizer.htm#Street_Magic_Signal_Stabilizer_(Load_Equalizer)

All are very bright and have worked well. That's a nice looking taillight --would you happen to know where it was sourced?
Gottagetone Posted February 9, 2015 Author Posted February 9, 2015 Did you just replace the flasher relay or did you have to add load resistors as well?
waspp Posted February 10, 2015 Posted February 10, 2015 I believe it was just replacing the flasher relay, I will check later today after work.

Gottagetone Posted February 11, 2015 Author Posted February 11, 2015 Thanks for the info, wonder if he still has any of those brackets? Looks like the thread is a couple years old.
Gottagetone Posted February 12, 2015 Author Posted February 12, 2015 After thinking about it I think I can fab up a bracket very similar to that one, may give it a run this weekend. Did you just run wires from the new relay to the plugs on the original flasher relay sockets?
