Some pages ago, I mentioned Iris Dement in a reaction and clearly did not know John Prine. Shame on me but even more a pity. When knowing the name, I all of a sudden saw it popping up everywhere. What a great guy he must have been, great texts, a true poet, mocking himself and enjoying every bit of it. And so much welcome by his fellow musicians. I really like to thank you guys on the forum to point my attention to John Prine. 4

I really like to thank you guys on the forum to point my attention to John Prine. John Prine has a great writing style imo. A- not so snarky -protester. A similar, somewhat under the radar, lyricist is John Hartford Both artists have a boatload of tunes that are covered by others. 4
gstallons Posted March 16 Posted March 16 It must be a hard place to live where every club you walk into has a real musician playin' real music all day long and all night long ! This boy did a good job on Before You 'Cuse Me . I really thought I was hearing a young Wille singing Crazy . I will have to listen to the rest and finish my comments . 1
gstallons Posted March 16 Posted March 16 (edited) Any time a musician can sit on a stool w/an acoustic guitar and perform solo , he has somethin' to say. Ahem , now I know why he sounds like a young Willie Nelson when he sings "Crazy" . Edited March 16 by gstallons 2

audiomick Posted Sunday at 01:47 AM Posted Sunday at 01:47 AM Thanks for that @Joe . I wasn't aware of that concert, but it seems there is a fair bit of it in the Tube. And the sound quality is fairly good for the time. 2

After watching that entire concert online, I asked my lead guitar guy why he has fifteen pedals on his pedal board and Jimmy had two. He said, "Jimmy only has to sound like Jimmy. I have to sound like Jimmy, Stevie Ray, Clapton, David Gilmour, Keith Richards, Knopfler, Toy Caldwell, and myself." 2 1
PJPR01 Posted Sunday at 03:11 PM Posted Sunday at 03:11 PM One of their best!! Every time I ride thru La Grange…mysteriously I’m listening to ZZ TOP!! How does that happen! 2 1
audiomick Posted Sunday at 10:58 PM Posted Sunday at 10:58 PM (edited) And now for something completely different... Someone showed me this earlier this evening. I thought it might be useful information towards solving the problem of how to play Rachmaninov if your hands are too small. It seems it is easy: all you need is a good carpenter and a capable assistant. Edited Sunday at 10:59 PM by audiomick 2
audiomick Posted Sunday at 11:35 PM Posted Sunday at 11:35 PM speaking of good carpenters, this turned up a couple of years ago on the geman forum. I don't know if it has been here yet. If not, it should have. 3
