Kiwi_Roy Posted December 30, 2016 Posted December 30, 2016 The old pots have something in common with your Guzzi ignition switch, the grease goes hard and holds the slider off, any solvent will soften it again, heck I've even used gasoline in a pinch.
gstallons Posted December 30, 2016 Posted December 30, 2016 A long time ago , I used Channel Master Tuner Cleaner. I don't know what is the best product now ?
Chuck Posted December 30, 2016 Posted December 30, 2016 I'm late to this party, but let me tell you about my tube amp. I was cruising by a yard sale and out of the corner of my eye I thought I saw a flip top. (!) Did a u turn, came back, and sure enough.. a B18. "Does it work?" "Nope" What do you want for it?" "Hunnerd bux." "Let's load her up.."

Chuck Posted December 31, 2016 Posted December 31, 2016 Yep, I'll post a picture when I get back home. Is that a flip top? The enclosure looks different than mine.
docc Posted December 31, 2016 Author Posted December 31, 2016 Dunno. Found that pic online. Ampeg stuff! Too cool! Got pic of yours?

docc Posted December 31, 2016 Author Posted December 31, 2016 Now I'm havin' trouble feelin' sorry for ya. Ya had me goin' there for a while . . .
docc Posted January 1, 2017 Author Posted January 1, 2017 The old pots have something in common with your Guzzi ignition switch, the grease goes hard and holds the slider off, any solvent will soften it again, heck I've even used gasoline in a pinch. Success! I couldn't get to the "back" (bottom?) of the volume pots, so sprayed the top side (sparingly) with CRC Electronics Cleaner whilst giving them a twist. Followed up with the CaigDeOxit (since there was "no one to stop me this time"), and *vee-oh-la!* - no more scratchy discharge when the pots are moved after being still for a time. Also, "cleaned and treated" all the 1/4"phono jacks for my cords. Sounding good for New Year's Eve! Happy New Year!
docc Posted January 1, 2017 Author Posted January 1, 2017 Scratchy discharge?? Careful, now. hahahaahaha! Too freakin' funny . . . . "Stay away from the bassman, ladies . . . . "
Chuck Posted January 7, 2017 Posted January 7, 2017 Here ya go, Docc. It's a big booger with an 18" speaker. The top with amplifier can be turned over, latched down, and the only thing you have to move to the gig is the speaker enclosure. Wonder if that's why they call it a flip top? Like everything else there is a mail list devoted to them with parts suppliers, etc. The illuminated "Ampeg" part was missing, but are being repopped. Changed out the power tubes, and this sucker rocks. Makes a killer tube guitar amp, too.. unless you want effects. Doesn't have any. Pretty good buy for a hunnerd bux and a little time. docc Posted January 7, 2017 Author Posted January 7, 2017 And you hauled this home with the 18" speaker and cab for a hunnerdbucks? Sweeet! What's for output tubes, like two 6L6?
Chuck Posted January 7, 2017 Posted January 7, 2017 And you hauled this home with the 18" speaker and cab for a hunnertbucks? Sweeet! What's for output tubes, like two 6L6? Yep..one of my better finds.
voycie Posted June 1, 2017 Posted June 1, 2017 I had an Orange Rockerverb for a number of years during my gigging days. Such a nice sounding amp for that classic clean overdriven sound. Goes nocely with my bigsby fender jag Sent from my SM-G928F using Tapatalk 3
