What did you do to your V11 today?

What, no Stelvio?

I find the new Stelvio based on the V100 too tall. A V85 will be the next Guzzi. But I’ve now reached peak bike storage capacity :(

What's the story with the 06 Coppa? I didn't know they got badged that year.

It was registered in 2006. I assume the bike would have been built in 2005. I guess I can check the build year from the engine no.

Let's ask the other inmates on the ward if this represents a pure and crystalline sanity. :sun::grin: :rasta:

Yay, it does seem somewhat crazy. I was recently offered the opportunity to buy one of the only 2 original Coppa’s in the UK, & I couldn’t let it pass me by. I don’t really want to sell any of the others   :P

See? Right there, "a pure and crystalline sanity." :sun:

What is the tenth character in the VIN?

Yesterday, October 12th, 2024 was the Grand Opening of Iron Supply Motorcycles Katy (Houston) at their new location.

Majority of participants where on four wheels, but there were a few interesting motorcycles; in particular a Kawasaki H2-R. As you probably know, the retail price is about 60k USD (without taxes and all the other add-ons that are not shown in the USA). It is really beautiful, but at that price? 321 HP @14,000 rpm...

I have documented the previous location in 2021, when they informed they were moving.

Three years after, they have now a much larger building and parking. I am going to take some photos and update the thread.

Nevertheless, I went there by chance and won a dual sport helmet from Alpinestars decorated by Troy Lee Design in "Red". There is justice after all...

And again.

Probably dead, I reckon. I've no idea how old the battery is, actually. It looks pretty "new", as in clean. But the bike did practically no kilometres over 10 years before I bought it, so who knows. Most of the work it does now is very short trips, only about 5 km., which is also not the best for a battery. :huh2:

Before rebuilding the fork leg on the V-11 people said they had success with that plastic sheet to remove debris from the seal. I can't think of the name of it to save my life.

I'm a bit sceptical. Not because I don't believe that works. I've seen a bloke "cure" a leg on a Stelvio with a cable tie, and the concept is eminently plausible.

The thing is, mine isn't just dripping a bit. It has really dropped a lot of oil, I'd say all that was left in the fork after the ride, in one hit. I don't think a bit of grit under the seal would cause that.

The bike has nearly 70,000 km. on it, and has obviously had one or a couple of previous owners who weren't so, shall we say, "precise" with the maintenance and mechanical things. It's going to take a while, but I'm seriously considering having the forks off to a suspension specialist to have them re-furbished.

Standard forks are quite easy. Øhlins was ok to, a little scary, expensive parts.
Doing the White Power forks on the 1100Sport now. Different story, red neck tools to be made to remove springs ++. It was like fitting new pistons and springs without the right tool. Probably something like 2 tiny half mons to help double lip seal to enter leg. Xparts.net had 2lips seals and dustcover available. Dustcover no longer available from Guzzi.
Cheers Tom.

interesting… I don’t recall the new Stelvio being that tall, at least compared to the V85. I popped off my V85 at the John Day gathering and took the new Stelvio for a spin, and was giggling happy with it, despite an assumption I wouldn’t like it.  i think the tank is higher, but don’t recall the seat height being any taller, fwiw.

it certainly is a whole different machine than our beloved v11’s.  the “involvement” of the slipper clutch when approaching twisties on decel was impressive for me on that brief ride, but not necessarily desirable….i’m just not used to it, and it would add to the existing need to remember you’re on a V11 if hopping between bikes, to avoid bad results on the V11 entering a corner.  but she was lovely.

With a Tenni Griso that’d be the holy trinity!

:notworthy:

I have often had the same thoughts ;)

The problem is I would find it difficult to part with my black Griso which I’ve owned for the past 11 years. I have the same problems with my various V11 Sports purchased before I acquired the Coppa & RC; I can’t really bear to sell them, and IMO the red frame models are different enough to the black framed Ohlins equipped specials to justify keeping them all

This photo of my Griso, Coppa & RC is weird. The wide angle has stretched the wheelbases of the Griso & RC
