paulnaz Posted May 15, 2016 Posted May 15, 2016 O.K. Here goes..Can anyone tell me if Guzzi ever used Gilardoni cylinders on a V11 Sport 2000 vintage from the factory? I've looked through the usual forums,Guzziology and can't find a definitve answer. Hoping one of you gurus can shed some light on this. Paul
docc Posted May 15, 2016 Posted May 15, 2016 I have not heard this before. How would one know a "Gilardoni cylinder" if he saw it?
paulnaz Posted May 15, 2016 Author Posted May 15, 2016 On Both front and rear of the cylinder between the second and third cooling fin Gilardoni is cast right in. Paul
pete roper Posted May 16, 2016 Posted May 16, 2016 Gilardoni manufacture all the OE barrels for a host of manufacturers including Guzzi. It's not who makes them that is really the issue its the coating on the barrels which is Nicasil, an electroplated Nickel Silicon amalgam that is virtually indestructible. So while the original Guzzi barrels may not say 'Gilardoni' on them they were manufactured and plated by Gilardoni. Pete
docc Posted May 16, 2016 Posted May 16, 2016 Well, indeed, there it is cast into my 2000 Sport! I would certainly never have seen that. Pretty cool.
paulnaz Posted May 16, 2016 Author Posted May 16, 2016 Thanks Pete! I was kinda leanin' that way, but it never hurts to ask Paul.
