thumper Posted September 29, 2016 Posted September 29, 2016 Hi all, Re sprung my rear shock and does anyone know the torque setting for the top and bottom shock mount bolts? Thanks in advance,2000 v11 sport
Scud Posted September 29, 2016 Posted September 29, 2016 Those torque values aren't specified. Use the standard torques for the size. See the bottom of the attached spec sheet. I don't recall the size of the bolts.
thumper Posted September 29, 2016 Author Posted September 29, 2016 Both are 19mm, went with 50fp on each, blue lock tite. Must not be that important, just good and tight for the size of the bolt.
Scud Posted September 29, 2016 Posted September 29, 2016 If I had to guess, I'd say they were 8mm or 10mm. The sizes are based on the threads, not the size of wrench or socket required. 50 lb/ft is almost 70 n/m. So yeah, they're "good and tight." In fact, even if they're 10mm they're quite a bit tighter the 45-50 n/m specified. But on to the fun stuff - how's the new spring treating you?
docc Posted September 30, 2016 Posted September 30, 2016 Just a reminder to grease the shock bolts liberally with something like BelRay Waterproof Grease. A *dry shock eye* is as bad as it sounds!
thumper Posted September 30, 2016 Author Posted September 30, 2016 I am in Virginia and we have had a lot of rain. Hoping to take it out Saturday. Going to Summit point Monday for a track day . It would be nice to run the V11 around the track for a few sessions.
