V11_RM_RG Posted Sunday at 02:37 AM Posted Sunday at 02:37 AM An update on those Durakool DG82-2011-36-1012-DR. I bought some of those Durakool Relay to try, and they just keep on blowing fuses . I insert it on the number 5 relay location (fuel pump/ coils/ injectors) and when I turn on the ignition, the fuel pump did not prime because somehow the ECU fuse has blown. If anyone got any clues as to why this happened will be much appericated!! 1
gstallons Posted Sunday at 06:43 PM Posted Sunday at 06:43 PM (edited) Was this doing this prior to changing the relay ? What year and model ? Which position (from the front) fuse is this that blows ? Edited Sunday at 06:44 PM by gstallons more info
V11_RM_RG Posted Sunday at 09:27 PM Posted Sunday at 09:27 PM (edited) Nothing like this has happend before at all, I only change the relay with Durakool as a preventative maintance. 2001 V11 Rosso Mandello. the very first fuse (5 amp) front the front (ECU fuse), which is labeled F1 on the wiring diagram. Will do some resistance test on these Durakool relays and compare them with Siemens and Panasonic relays that is currently on the bike. Edited Sunday at 09:28 PM by V11_RM_RG 1
gstallons Posted Sunday at 09:39 PM Posted Sunday at 09:39 PM Reinstall your old relay and see if the fuse blows when you turn on the ignition switch .
V11_RM_RG Posted Sunday at 10:30 PM Posted Sunday at 10:30 PM Yes I did reinstall all the old relays, replaced the blown fuses and bike runs normal like how it used to be. Must be the new relay but just couldn't figure out the reason behind it. 1

SPDT is a standard, so the relay should be correct fitment A relay cannot affect current if it's working correctly- I'll suggest the relay is defective and shorting to ground internally.
V11_RM_RG Posted Monday at 12:12 AM Posted Monday at 12:12 AM After the resistance test on 85 & 86, 1 of 3 Durakool I used was defective which I believe was on #5 fuel pump location. I also tested the 2 I did not use and 1 is also defective so that make it 2 out of 5 are defective. That sums up the quality of these Durakool relays and I simply would not trust the 3 that pass the "resistance test". 2

Your Durakool relays are the 5-pin, "R" version, with the resistor, integral, @V11_RM_RG?

Yes that's correct, 3 measured 93.5 ohm and the 2 defectives measured 0.1 and 0.01 ohm. No wonder they blow fuses. Edited Monday at 02:32 AM by V11_RM_RG 4
