andy york Posted March 24, 2017 Posted March 24, 2017 OK New clutch plates and springs arrived. Old clutch plates measured 7.45mm and 7.43mm old springs ....28 mm free length New clutch plates measure 8.13mm and 8.14mm new springs ...29 mm free length appears to be two different styles of springs new spring on the left in picture anyway on to the clutch slave.Brand new from Moto Guzzi. It Leaks Somehow it is machined different where the hydraulic hose screws in. Its like I can't get it tight enough....anyway ....Scud sent an extra he had and it works fine.(Thanks) Tranny is in...just need to fettle with some stuff tomorrow as I reassemble. andy
Scud Posted March 24, 2017 Posted March 24, 2017 Dang, that's a bummer on the new clutch slave - but I'm sure a hydraulic hose shop could make a line that would fit it. Glad the spare cleaned up and is functional - it came from a bike with 50,000 miles. There seems to be quite a lot of variance in clutch springs. I have some extra stronger springs if you need or want them. I alternated 5 stronger and 5 original springs to get desired resistance at lever. 10 stronger springs caused a problem.
sp838 Posted April 3, 2017 Posted April 3, 2017 Ditch the hose and use a standard braided ss brake line with banjo fittings and crush washers, works much better than those garbage hoses that are prone to leaking.
andy york Posted April 3, 2017 Author Posted April 3, 2017 By golly, you have an idea there. Although the clutch line is already braided steel, it does not have a banjo at the slave cylinder end. Just need to get a new hose made up with the right banjos on both ends. thanks andy
sp838 Posted April 3, 2017 Posted April 3, 2017 Standard brake lines have female threaded ends, that the banjo fittings screw into. The slave cylinder hole is M10, can't remember if the pitch is 1.0 or 1.25, but I replaced mine and it's way better. I used a 45º banjo which is easier to route out of that very tight area. http://www.ebay.com/itm/330513927223 This is the line I bought, it's longer than stock because I'm running Renthal bars and bar risers, but those ends are what you want. Then you need one of these for the slave: http://www.ebay.com/itm/351999077126 Then you'll need a straight one for the clutch, and two M10 bolts, again I don't remember the pitch for the Grimeca, but pretty sure it's 1.0 for the Brembo master.
