bbolesaz Posted March 30, 2017 Posted March 30, 2017 Hi, I'm considering purchasing and installing this rear rack on my Scura. http://www.harpermoto.com/rear-rack-moto-guzzi-v11-sport-naked-le-mans-from-01-cafe-sport-ballabio-scura-coppa-italia.html If anyone is familiar with this, where are the mounting points? Is it only the 4 bolts on the muffler/pillion peg hanger? Or is there a mounting point at the rear of the bike? TIA.
fotoguzzi Posted March 31, 2017 Posted March 31, 2017 Yikes! sticker shock.. and it's ugly.. what ill you do with it, mount a big box?
not-fishing Posted March 31, 2017 Posted March 31, 2017 No, sorry I bought an old Stucchi Rack from Australia that cost about the same. It also uses 4 mounting bolts. http://www.v11lemans.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=19675
H-E-Ross Posted March 31, 2017 Posted March 31, 2017 I also searched for a while to find a Stucchi Rack. Also shipped from Australia when I found it. Way better looking IMHO.
stewgnu Posted March 31, 2017 Posted March 31, 2017 I bought steve s's old one- true, they aren't nearly as pretty as the lovely stucci ones but are perfectly functional. New price seems steep though...
bbolesaz Posted April 3, 2017 Author Posted April 3, 2017 OK, OK, we've established that the un-obtanium rack is prettier than this one. Doesn't do me any good if I can't get one. So - Can anyone answer the original question?
stewgnu Posted April 3, 2017 Posted April 3, 2017 Wups, sorry buddy, it mounts to the footrest hangers. Iirc there's a 5 kilo limit stickum on it... but as i am a cheeky egg, i must've put about 6-7 in it with no adverse effects.
bbolesaz Posted April 3, 2017 Author Posted April 3, 2017 Many thanks stewgnu ! I'm looking for something I can bungee a bag of clothes to for the occasional rally. I figure with only 4 bolts on the hangers, I'll leave it off most of the time and just bolt it up when I need it.
sp838 Posted April 5, 2017 Posted April 5, 2017 I have one, it's not as ugly in real life as it is in photos, and has the advantage of being compatible with the H&B top cases. I've definitely loaded it with more than 5kg worth of junk with no adverse effects.
Chuck Posted April 5, 2017 Posted April 5, 2017 That's the stock Guzzi rack. I've used one a fair amount. Nicely made. Gave one away last year.. sorry.
guzzigary Posted April 5, 2017 Posted April 5, 2017 The Guzzi racks are labled 3 kg. max. I have used a tail bag when packed 10-12 lbs.with no issues.
swooshdave Posted April 5, 2017 Posted April 5, 2017 Product Liability Weight rating is different from practical weight rating.
