stewgnu Posted April 6, 2017 Posted April 6, 2017 Hi up folks, I got the second-hand shaft thru and she's all buttoned up and rides fine (yay). However, the replacement was not identical to the original. (I ended up using the original 'male' part with the new 'female' part). It seemed shorter- would this be from the earlier, short wheelbase model perchance?
docc Posted April 6, 2017 Posted April 6, 2017 My understanding is that the swing arms and shafts were unchanged through the V11 range. There was no spring fitted to the replacement as in the earlier 1100 Sport? The 5speed gearbox would make for a shorter shaft, yes?
stewgnu Posted April 6, 2017 Author Posted April 6, 2017 Hmmm, dammit i should've taken a side-by-side pic shouldn't I? Too much of a hurry to get it re-assembled... They were definitely different lengths, by about a quarter inch I'd say.
docc Posted April 6, 2017 Posted April 6, 2017 How about a picture of the part of the shaft you did not use? Is there a part number on it?
stewgnu Posted April 10, 2017 Author Posted April 10, 2017 Here's the unused, second-hand shaft: On the original shaft, the splined portion protruded beyond the end of the tube, whereas on this shaft the splines are 'recessed' slightly into the tube.
