nobleswood Posted June 19, 2017 Posted June 19, 2017 I don't know anything about this model or engine. That said I just worked on my Griso with a similar sounding noise. That was down to a camchain tensioner not getting enough oil so it couldn't get up to pressure to tension the camchain. If the bike has been standing there could be a buildup of sludge in a hydraulic component that is causing the item to not work as designed. Good luck
voycie Posted June 19, 2017 Author Posted June 19, 2017 The VFR is cam driven, usually they are bulletproof. Checked the front pots, cams and buckets looked ok, one inlet valve was below the tolerance by quite a long way, so i may as well correct that, but gut instinct tells me its something more serious
voycie Posted July 13, 2017 Author Posted July 13, 2017 Turned out to be a bent valve caused by the collets failing. Prob due to it being sat for so long. New head turned up today, so hopefully will be back togther soon
