I did have floorboards on my GL1200.  They were hinged on the frame mount and would pivot up.  My riding friends would laugh as I cornered, because the floorboards would touch and ride along the pavement as I cornered and grind.  After a while, I noticed that my pants had cuts in them near the ankles.  I had ground the floorboards so much that they ground down to a knife edge on the outside and would cut my pants when I put my feet down.

Thanks for your input everyone.  If I do try a linked brake set up I'll report back with my findings.  Now I need to make the most of the English summer and ride it!

For those interested in engineering, I've put a load of pictures of the bike on the gallery  (hope I've put them in  the correct place!)

Thanks for your interest

I un-linked the brakes on my Lario. I did not like the way the linked brakes felt. The front brake, only working the one disc, was wooden feeling and had no bite. I only un-linked them and they feel much better.
