docc Posted October 23, 2017 Posted October 23, 2017 Looks like time to lay eyes on lifter faces . . . with a mind toward the relative cam lobes . . . With the rockers out of the way, the push rods can be extracted from above (with the barrels yet in place), but the lifters cannot?
coreytrevor Posted October 23, 2017 Posted October 23, 2017 No lifters will be removed with cylinders in place. 1
gstallons Posted October 23, 2017 Posted October 23, 2017 Do you have the stuff to check the valve lift ? It will be the same for both sides on the intake and both sides on the exhaust ? This will slow / stop your teardown in search of this noise .
coreytrevor Posted November 16, 2017 Posted November 16, 2017 I just realized why I haven't been able to sleep lately. Is the poor sick bike still banished to the corner?
Scud Posted November 17, 2017 Author Posted November 17, 2017 Yeah, she's still banished. Wrench time recently devoted to a broken shift spring on my red LeMans... and other bikes need to get ridden.

Unkept Posted April 18, 2018 Posted April 18, 2018 So, how is my old bike doing Scud? I know you're busy having fun with the Husky, and romping around Germany... I'm sorry to see you've had trouble with thew new engine. -Joe
Scud Posted April 18, 2018 Author Posted April 18, 2018 Hey Joe - Yeah, I've been stalled on it - and starting question the financial viability of finishing it and selling it vs. selling off the parts. Kind of sad, but I've robbed enough bits off that it will take some investment of time and money to get her going... and the prices for $50,000 mile 2002 LeMans are not encouraging. Anyways, it's pending a "final" decision. 1
Unkept Posted April 18, 2018 Posted April 18, 2018 I understand, sorry to hear it though. I enjoyed watching you go over everything... The Ohlins ended up in the Greenie right? I liked trying to catch where all the bits went. -Joe

Unkept Posted April 18, 2018 Posted April 18, 2018 Well if you do part the bike out... can I call dibs on those red valve covers? I may or may not get a decent deal on a local bike... but I don't have a garage for a project again. I'll just have a parking stall in a shared garage. Not meant for mechanics.... -Joe
Scud Posted April 18, 2018 Author Posted April 18, 2018 I'm quite proud of having its clutch slave cylinder on my Sport! You have the final drive from Joe's bike too. And yes, the Ohlins ended up on the Greenie.
