docc Posted November 7, 2017 Author Posted November 7, 2017 I’ve was hoping for a cutaway engine on a stand.
swooshdave Posted November 7, 2017 Posted November 7, 2017 I’ve was hoping for a cutaway engine on a stand. No need to cutaway an engine anymore when we have 3D drawings (if they decide to share them).
Scud Posted November 7, 2017 Posted November 7, 2017 Oh, dear me. Look at that red frame . . . . https://www.asphaltandrubber.com/bikes/moto-guzzi-v85/ I like this quite a bit. Eagerly awaiting further news and a proper dual-sport test - road and dirt. Suspension travel looks moderate, not long like a KTM adventure or Honda Africa Twin, but not short like a scrambler.
Scud Posted November 7, 2017 Posted November 7, 2017 Is it my imagination, or could you tie-down, tow, or winch-out the bike with those red "handles" on the forks? The rear subframe (surround-frame) has lots of place to grab/lift, and attach things. And the bash-plate looks serious.
68C Posted November 7, 2017 Posted November 7, 2017 Not so sure about the red frame around the seat and next to the headlight, nothing some black paint could'nt cure.
luhbo Posted November 7, 2017 Posted November 7, 2017 Attention: Spoiler! Look what the big money will bring: https://www.cycleworld.com/indian-unveils-street-legal-ftr1200-custom-as-race-ready-flat-tracker-with-plate
docc Posted November 7, 2017 Author Posted November 7, 2017 A 100 hp, 425 pound, Indian Scout with a normal (not cruiser) fork rake? That will be quite something!
Scud Posted November 7, 2017 Posted November 7, 2017 Ok. Flat tracker.... back to the Guzzi... Sadly, it's on 17R and 19F wheels. 18R and 21F would say ADV to me - and that's not a cheap upgrade. 1
gsp0702 Posted November 7, 2017 Posted November 7, 2017 See I reckon they are looking to steal sales from the R9T Urban GS rather than the F800GS, as it looks a little retro so full on adv bike is probably not where they are going, but that's just me. 2
bbolesaz Posted November 7, 2017 Posted November 7, 2017 The red "handles" in front mount the headlight nacelle. I think they are trying to steal sales from the Ducati Scrambler series. Good place to steal from. I like it, but it wouldn't find a place in my fleet.
docc Posted November 7, 2017 Author Posted November 7, 2017 Yeah, I keep passing on the "full-on adventure" bikes because they're too tall, too heavy (for me), and I'm not in striking distance of any real adventure territory ("way out west" here in the US). So many times, I've seen pictures of a Moto Guzzi that let me down in person, so we shall see how it pans out. If it truly goes production, might be the 2019 model year, at the earliest, with other models getting the new driveline over a couple years. That puts us on track for a 100th Anniversary V85 LeMans!
docc Posted November 7, 2017 Author Posted November 7, 2017 Still no pictures of the V85 with a model astride to put it in, er *perspective* . . . ? Like this, right?
nobleswood Posted November 7, 2017 Posted November 7, 2017 While the Guzzi is a pretty little thing, I was hoping to hear of some oil or water cooling & re-engineering that would take Guzzi further into the future. Shrug ! 1
docc Posted November 7, 2017 Author Posted November 7, 2017 Looks like Piaggio hired a couple palm trees instead of those 'spensive models for perspective . . . . . . . brought in some sand . . .
