LowRyter Posted December 28, 2017 Posted December 28, 2017 This was posted on Wild. https://detroit.craigslist.org/okl/mcy/6439311563.html Bike has 3 miles and owner in Michigan is asking $6995.
68C Posted December 29, 2017 Posted December 29, 2017 How has that performed as an investment? In other words what did cost in 2002, what would that be now taking inflation into account?Edit. Just did a quick check, $1.00 in 2002 equals $1.36 now.6995 ÷ 1.36 = 5143So $6995 in 2017 = $5143 in 2002( please correct any errors in my schoolboy maths)
LowRyter Posted December 29, 2017 Author Posted December 29, 2017 and even worse since it retailed for $13k. But a good deal for someone wanting one.
68C Posted December 30, 2017 Posted December 30, 2017 $13,000 x 1.36 = $17,680 so only a $10,000 loss over fifteen years! Perhaps fifteen years of riding memories would have been a better bet. 1
Chuck Posted December 30, 2017 Posted December 30, 2017 That bike was from the Larry Klein (RIP) auction a month or so ago. Somebody's just flipping it to try to make a few bucks for whatever reason..
czakky Posted December 30, 2017 Posted December 30, 2017 Seeing as how the bike is 15+years old by now is a zero mile bike a good deal? Would you start to worry about dry rotted seals/rubber parts? I’d rather have a well cared for machine personally... But, for the collector. 2

For myself, the zero mileage bike has the benefit of not being abused. The rubber bits, covers, cables, boots, fuel - oil lines, filters, fluids, etc., would need replaced after that time regardless of miles. I think the best way to find them is 10 - 20k miles, one owner, decently cared for and most important, meticulously stored. This is a great color. An '02 is set up the right way imo. I hope it get's to meet the road. 1
Rox Lemans Posted December 31, 2017 Posted December 31, 2017 I see 3 miles and I get queezy. One thing I know about Guzzis is they don't like to sit dormant. . Bad things happen when they sit too long.
