docc Posted May 3, 2018 Posted May 3, 2018 Yes! I'm waiting patiently for the Mistrals. They are apparently tucked away in a Norwegian cabin no doubt surrounded by protective reindeer. PO had to take the Mistral off due to snow-melt regulations . . . 1
Chuck Posted May 3, 2018 Posted May 3, 2018 For the record, Chuck now owns the Staintunes! Enjoy'em Chuck!!! Thanks, Laurent.. I've been looking for a right one since I got the Mighty Scura several years ago. Pete binned it on the way from picking it up at MPH to SoCal, and beat it up pretty badly. From the pix, yours are better than my "good" one. Sometimes, patience *is * it's own reward.

swooshdave Posted June 3, 2018 Author Posted June 3, 2018 Untitled by swooshdave, on Flickr 12 days from Norway to Oregon. Not bad! Untitled by swooshdave, on Flickr I think there was $100 worth of bubble wrap alone! Untitled by swooshdave, on Flickr The most interesting think about getting parts from different places is what people use for packing. Untitled by swooshdave, on Flickr I almost want to try Norwegian pizza... almost. Untitled by swooshdave, on Flickr They are cleaner than the last pictures I saw. They are used with some dings and such but so am I, I mean so is my bike. Untitled by swooshdave, on Flickr I can get the band and rivets new from MG Cycle. I even asked them about the price a new connector pipe. They said no one had ever asked that before. They happily sell single mufflers but a new one wouldn't match the other side. I'll do what I can with what I have but really I just wanted a deeper sound. I got spoiled when I heard @Jazzamoto and his FBF mufflers. They'll go on later tonight and there might even be a video...
Lucky Phil Posted June 3, 2018 Posted June 3, 2018 Dont know if its the image angle but they look a terrible fit. Does the l/h muffler have clearance on the l/h side of the swingarm during suspension travel? Ciao
swooshdave Posted June 3, 2018 Author Posted June 3, 2018 Dont know if its the image angle but they look a terrible fit. Does the l/h muffler have clearance on the l/h side of the swingarm during suspension travel? Ciao Oh, it's a horrible fit. Some of it's the angle but the left side is still pushed in from my crash last year. I had pulled the passenger footpeg out but I was afraid I was going to snap the casting so I only did it a little bit. I'll post some better pictures soon as get some advice on how they can be better.
Scud Posted June 3, 2018 Posted June 3, 2018 To get a better fit: 1) Remove the hanger bolts 2) Loosen every fastener in the exhaust system - headers (2 nuts each flange) - crossover (4x and the hanger to frame bolts) 3) Wrestle the whole system till you get the pipes where you want them in back 4) Reinstall hanger bolts 5) Half-tighten from the back to the front, paying attention to how everything lines up. 6) Final wrestling with semi-tight system 7) Final tightening of everything
swooshdave Posted June 3, 2018 Author Posted June 3, 2018 I need to make sure the rear hangers are in the right place first.
swooshdave Posted June 3, 2018 Author Posted June 3, 2018 IMG_1633 by swooshdave, on Flickr I didn't realize the stock clamps are spot welded to the mufflers. Which does make it handy but there was only on clamp with the Mistrals. Two new clamps on order...
swooshdave Posted June 3, 2018 Author Posted June 3, 2018 Can someone measure their bike and let me know what these distances should be? IMG_1633 by swooshdave, on Flickr IMG_1633 by swooshdave, on Flickr I assume the right side has to compensate for the driveshaft, etc. so they may not be the same. My left side footrest hanger is definitely pushed in. I just don't know how much to pull it out.
Scud Posted June 3, 2018 Posted June 3, 2018 FWIW mine is 3/8 further out on the right than the left. I just measured, but exact measurements won't help you, because I have the high hangers on mine. The right pipe definitely is supposed to be farther out. Is there any evidence of a crack at the weld on the frame tab where the hanger mounts? I'd hate to see you snap that off.
swooshdave Posted June 3, 2018 Author Posted June 3, 2018 Your passenger pegs are different? I’m afraid to look for a crack on the frame.
footgoose Posted June 3, 2018 Posted June 3, 2018 right where yours says 4 1/4" mine says 4 5/8" It most likely bent at the weld of tab to frame. It seems the weakest point. the right side is as yours measures a heavy/medium scotchbrite will remove a bunch of scratches (linear motion)
