After about an hour of trying to remove the tailite bulb out of my 02 LeMans  ( don't even ask how or why I was doing it) anyway after removing the mutilated bulb and replacing it with a 1157, now my tailite is on bright all the time and when I hit the brake the dim part of the bulb lightes. In other words the bulb is working opposite of the way it should. Is an 1157 the wrong bulb? if so what # bulb do I need? :(

My tail-light was wired backwards(from "normal" according to the rest of the world :P ), which I discovered when I installed my tail-light modulator, and it sounds like your original bulb somehow was wedged in there working as was mine :huh2:

I had to disassemble/rewire my socket, then all was fine.

I don't know if this is your issue for sure(other than possibly putting the new bulb in backwards??) .... but it's something to check-out :luigi:

I had this on my old Monster. Turned out that I put the bulb in "upside down". Simple. Try that first.
