Guest Warren Rhen Posted March 3, 2004 Posted March 3, 2004 Since the techno bags are fabric and catch a lot of dirt and road spray what is the best way to clean them without being so abrasive as to ruin them prematurely.
al_roethlisberger Posted March 3, 2004 Posted March 3, 2004 I just sprayed down some similar nylon bags with Simple Green, then scrubbed them with a soft auto cleaning brush. Cleaned up like new! ...all nice and black again al
jrt Posted March 3, 2004 Posted March 3, 2004 On mine, I'm allowing the dirt and crud to build up into a protective, watertight layer. J
Guest Warren Rhen Posted March 4, 2004 Posted March 4, 2004 On mine, I'm allowing the dirt and crud to build up into a protective, watertight layer. J Well that will be my normal summer maintenance, but now, when the riding season isn't here everyday, I keep looking for stuff to do to it
Steve G. Posted March 4, 2004 Posted March 4, 2004 I've found that the bags are starting to fade from the uv light. This happens to all things gortex/nylon, but these seem to be losing their jet black hue quicker than normal. I have some uv protective spray, I'll use during this seasons riding. Ciao, Steve G.
al_roethlisberger Posted March 4, 2004 Posted March 4, 2004 This seems to be a fairly common problem with the Tekno bag nylon. Dunno why, but every photo I've seen of an "older" pair is a nice gray al
docc Posted March 4, 2004 Posted March 4, 2004 After you scrub them, even with soap and water, remember to use some water repellent ( like 'Camp Dry') to restore the fabric. It alsoi helps to seal the zipper tapes with the spray or, better yet, a seam sealer from a camp supply or Aerostich.
