I think the "boss" or reinforcement is on all of them. So they can be drilled and safely used. (at least the later ones)

I will check. I'm sure the '03 has them.

I bought a used triple clamp and drilled it, as you say there is a raised boss on the undersurface obviously there for that purpose.  Sadly not wide enough to allow fitting of rubber bushes.  I used an old set of clamps from a Honda CB00, remember them?

So, what I'm calling a boss on the underside of the top clamp is I believe a reinforced area for drilling for handle bar risers. They are on the early bikes as well but that area is drilled and tapped for a 'swivel lock' for the early bike's fork mounted risers. So, any top clamp will do if you're of a mind to have it drilled.

 My 2000 03 Sport was already converted by the original owner. He used Part# 01493180 Cadre shows it to be $257.  I believe it's from a California Stone.
