Guest Apexlocator Posted March 16, 2004 Posted March 16, 2004 A friend told me that he likes to change the oil immediately, then a few more times before the first service at 600 miles. Does that make any sense, just because he finds shavings in the first oil change at 50 miles? I plan to keep this LeMans a long time but I don't know if all that extra oil changing is a waste of time and money. Thanks for any feedback
docc Posted March 16, 2004 Posted March 16, 2004 Yeah, that surely sounds on the obsessive-compulsive side. But lots of us suffer from variations of that theme when it comes to our bikes. The factory recommendations are surely adequate as so many of us have cranked up some miles on these motors without blowing the big-ends onto the tarmac.
MotoG5 Posted March 16, 2004 Posted March 16, 2004 Its not needed. I would just follow the factory recomended oil change chart. A few shavings in the screen on the first change is no big deal. Ride your new bike as much as possible and only work on it when you have to. Later on as stuff starts to wear out or you just get bored and start changing things for the fun of it you will get in plenty of wrench time.
