Chuck Posted December 23, 2021 Posted December 23, 2021 I was hanging out at Moto guzzi classics yesterday when a 97 Centauro rolled up on a flatbed. The rider said it did something weird on the interstate and the rear wheel locked up. I doubt that, because he was still alive. I told Mark that I would take a look at it tomorrow cuz he was busy on a couple of loops. Suspected the rear drive, and that was it. It is not worth trying to rebuild. The kid is in a bind if Mark can't find one.. give Mark a call at 562 986 0070 1
docc Posted December 23, 2021 Posted December 23, 2021 @fotoguzzi had a bin of Centauro parts he has been sharing . . .
Chuck Posted December 23, 2021 Author Posted December 23, 2021 He just contacted me.. thanks! I'll be away from this forum while I'm out in SoCal. My ancient tablet doesn't work with this forum, and I can't do anything with a phone.. I'm borrowing the grand daughter's laptop to get on. 1
Twin AH Posted December 23, 2021 Posted December 23, 2021 Would be interested to know what caused that failure............... you don't hear of those failing is all. Ciao
fotoguzzi Posted December 23, 2021 Posted December 23, 2021 From Mark. It was low on gear lube. If you use the side drain hole to find the level and if you use a funnel to fill which drains toward that side of the rear drive it can flow down the threads and pour out the side hole before it's really up to that level. always fill with measured amount and don't even take the side plug out. 1 1
Twin AH Posted December 24, 2021 Posted December 24, 2021 Thx for that. I have always used the volumes specified but have used a syringe to fill visually to bottom of side port thread. Would that be safe to assume correct? Thx in advance.
fotoguzzi Posted December 24, 2021 Posted December 24, 2021 Sound like your extra careful. Good on you.
