breather

The gearbox breather, has anyone had this apart to see what it looks like, and took pictures. I don't have a spare to take apart, I would like to see the guts of it and see if it is possible to clamp a hose/tube to it and the prevent the ingress of water to the gearbox. Maybe I can then patent this idea to Guzzi.

I didn't take it apart, but you can take the hood off, and clamp a hose on it. Only the part to clamp on is not to long. I plan to make a new thingy from aluminium can''t be that hard.

I removed the stock breather & used a brass nipple I got fom the local hardware store . I then added this breather and ran it up along side of the frame.

Do you recall the size and pitch of the threaded end of the brass fitting you used?

No , I never have that type of info I jez took the breather into the hardware store & went to the brass fittings in the plumbing section, you know where they keep all that stuff for your well

Al that's the same thing as in the reardrive, you can easy take that off to the shop, I think it's metric: M10

If it was a pipe thread type nipple it wouldn't be any larger than what they call 1/8 inch. Also I would bet that any rear wheel drive automotive axle vent would work on a piece of hose. I'll check it out when I put my new windshield on tomorrow and let you guys know.
