buellish1 Posted July 6, 2022 Posted July 6, 2022 Does anyone know what the spacer between the block and the sump is made from. aluminum, magnesium? Guzzi calls this part (flange black) and the part number is GU01003290. I have to get it repaired and it would be helpful to know the material it's made from. Thanks in advance!
docc Posted July 6, 2022 Posted July 6, 2022 I reckon an aluminum alloy. Damage from the sidestand attachment? 2

Lucky Phil Posted July 7, 2022 Posted July 7, 2022 30 minutes ago, docc said: So, good question: Can this be repaired? Yes it can quite easily. Built it up and fill in the threaded hole with weld and dress it with a die grinder back to original profile then drill and re tap the hole. Pre heat the whole spacer to around 150 deg C and weld it in a few stages to prevent distortion of the sealing faces. Phil 1
buellish1 Posted July 8, 2022 Author Posted July 8, 2022 I took the bike to a friend who is a highly skilled welder and fabricator, who said he can repair it, he just wanted to know what the base material is to help with wire selection. 1
Pressureangle Posted July 8, 2022 Posted July 8, 2022 I always install a Time-Sert in soft holes if it's been repaired, or even if it's a known point of failure and it's apart and accessible. 2
