belfastguzzi Posted April 26, 2004 Posted April 26, 2004 Although the local shop said that you can't can a Guzzi, it appears that you can – in quite a variety of ways. Most have been mentioned on the site here, particularly in the FAQ. So I have sent the shop this list (doesn't include every option) to see if they will investigate and decide if they might be able to supply any. Has anybody seen/heard/tried the Venom road legal silencers? P3GA Posted April 26, 2004 Posted April 26, 2004 Also, in a post late last week, one of the list members mentioned that a friend was in the process of fabricating cans for him, hopefully we'll get additional information & photos when they completed. I know that I'm interested, as I truly wonder how much "black magic" goes into the development of these exhaust cans. Seems like the biggest challenge would be to get the inlet size correct and the pipe bends made in such a fashion that the flow was not affected - more impact would be realized upstream of the cans - whether it be tweaking the air intake, F.I., or via crossover pipe. I think I'm getting a bit more skeptical the older I get. My wife just reminded me that I'm much more of a pain in her ass too.... Phil
gthyni Posted April 26, 2004 Posted April 26, 2004 The trick is the reduce noise to an acceptable level while not restricting flow more than absolutly necessary. A bit of experience and experiments are required to find the optimal mix. It should also be lightweight and nice looking. Regarding looks my favorites are: Kerker Meg and Yoshimura Tri-Oval and Akrapovic of course. All of these givies good results in power increase and are available for Guzzis but on the other hand slipons are easily adapted.
belfastguzzi Posted April 26, 2004 Author Posted April 26, 2004 Someone must have opened up a stock can and put in a straight through inner pipe? (And then put it back together of course.) Anyone?
Guest northend Posted April 27, 2004 Posted April 27, 2004 Don't forget about M-4 cans, check them out at Harper's moto guzzi. 695.00 for aluminum, 795.00 for carbon and they're the cats ass
