LaGrasta Posted July 29, 2022 Posted July 29, 2022 I downloaded the V11 factory manual, printed it two-sided, placed it in a binder and then was left confused. It's in three languages, but not 100% content for each. In addition it seems out of order, portions missing altogether. Lastly, it's awful, not much in the way of step by step repairs. I looked for fork seals and by the time I deciphered Marzocchi vs Öhlins, English, Italian and German, I was left with not much more than a parts schematic. What am I missing, can ya help?
docc Posted July 29, 2022 Posted July 29, 2022 Sounds like you have the second V11 Workshop Manual. IIRC, the first edition is more complete. Probably still in three languages and not the kind of detail you would expect to find in a Japanese shop manual or a Bentley Manual for a passenger car. Pretty sure there are links at Gregory Bender's thisoldtractor . . . 1
docc Posted July 29, 2022 Posted July 29, 2022 Here ya go: https://www.thisoldtractor.com/mg_manuals/workshop_manual_v11_en.pdf
LaGrasta Posted July 29, 2022 Author Posted July 29, 2022 thisoldtractor is where i downloaded these, appreciative of it. I'll go back and give it another look, thank you. Having recently completely rebuilt a 1982 Honda GL500 from their Factory Service Manual, I may have high expectations, lol. 1 1
LaGrasta Posted July 29, 2022 Author Posted July 29, 2022 yup, that's what I was missing. Thank you again, sir. 1
docc Posted July 29, 2022 Posted July 29, 2022 Yeah, to complicate matters further, your 2003 Naked is built entirely like a 2002. Much of the 1999-2001 Workshop Manual applies, but not all. So, you'll still need both manuals. And an Owners Manual . Best news: there is a place called V11LeMans.com that will receive you with open arms ! 1 1
LaGrasta Posted July 29, 2022 Author Posted July 29, 2022 V11LeMans.com and yourself have truly proven your worth. Thank you so much. 2

As a fellow Aircraft engineer told me early in my career (when an engineer could still use his judgment on airworthiness issues) "The maintenance manual is there for the guidance of the wise and the blind obedience of fools" Applies to translated Italian motorcycle shop manuals as well. Phil Haha, exactly why, at V11Lemans.com, "Operators are standing by" . . . . 2
docc Posted July 30, 2022 Posted July 30, 2022 I love this analogy (that I will paraphrase) from weather forecasting models: "Some models (manuals) are helpful, all models (manuals) are wrong." 2
