Guest WildJackal Posted May 6, 2004 Posted May 6, 2004 You know how the stock headers have a bolt/plug (3/8 in. ?) screwed into the bottom where they straighten to go into the crossover? I don't know what it would be used for .... tuning? Blowing out the carbon? I just got a new Stucchi crossover. I went to mount it and it has a hole for a bolt like that up by the mounting hanger bracket. The only problem is there is no bolt/plug included. It is bigger than the header bolt/plug holes. Has anyone seen this before? Is this a good thing? Or just somthing to disrupt flow. For now, I have a holed crossover ...
Guest WildJackal Posted May 6, 2004 Posted May 6, 2004 As Emily Latella would say .... nevermind. I looked through the packing and found the bolt/plug. The hole is for bikes with a Lambda sensor. So, don't throw that packing away until you have all the pieces. The bolt didn't want to screw in. I wasn't able to seat it and it won't come out. I think the bolt hole was warped some when they welded it in. Another question: What to do with the breathers that fed into the canister kludge I will be tossing. The gas tank overflow can stay but should I plug the manifold tubes? Thanks
Guest Brian Robson Posted May 6, 2004 Posted May 6, 2004 Absolutely you need to plug the inlet holes. These are used to help balance the throttle bodies. Use a small allen key bolt.
Guest Steve in VA Posted May 8, 2004 Posted May 8, 2004 WildJackal - What mufflers are you running? How do you like the Stucchi crossover? I am struggling to decide if I want one, but I swear my V11S is loud w/ those Mistral cans. I want to get a custom PC III map, so I need to decide.
Guest WildJackal Posted May 9, 2004 Posted May 9, 2004 The Stucchi was my first mod, I don't have cans. I had a hard time parting with $300 for a "piece of pipe", but I had the 4-5Krpm stumble and I figured I would buy the Stucchi eventually. I am elated with the results. The bike is much happier at the low to mid rpm range. I thought the bike was running fine everywhere but 4-5K, but in retrospect it was rough .... not happy to hold a steady rpm. It is sweet now. I still want a PCIII and cans when I have the coin, but the Stucchi was a great first mod. The bike is truely more enjoyable to ride. Smiles all over!
Guest Steve in VA Posted May 9, 2004 Posted May 9, 2004 I thought I was te only one w/ a Jackal and a V11S, esp. 2000's both.
