Has anybdy changed fork oil on a V 11 Scura, you know the gold ohlins units.

I sincerely hope that they do not have to be removed to change the oil.

I have read (from downloads on the Ohlins website) that the volume of oil is the most important factor in damping, therefore I am very slow to change the oil without full details.

BTW: This Scura runs so well I feel I'm tempting fate talking about it.

I haven't seen a set of USD forks yet that can be drained while on the bike.

Yes, you probably have to remove each fork leg.

Speaking as a mechanic I have not seen a set that does not need to be removed. Normally the level is set with the fork compressed and the spring in place, this can be very ackward with the fork on the bike.

Before I do mine does anyone know the volume or level that is needed?

The Ohlin manuel doesn't state, merely gives the type...

Ohlin 1309 Front and Ohlins 105/1 Rear.

Emry,

There are three download spec sheets/service sheets available from:

www.ohlins.com

They are in pdf format.

They give graphs on quantity of oil versus damping effect.

I editted my previous post; when setting oil level the fork should be compressed with the spring in place. Sorry, it must of been late. Why didn't anyone slap me???
