Hi All,

I noticed an oil leak on my bike last week as I rode my bike to work and had some oil on my boots and the bottom of my pants - on the right side only. I have attached pictures, as you can see the gasket looks messed up. My question is will changing gaskets fix the problem?

Sorry, bit of a luddite here, I couldn't figure out how to post pictures so I posted links.

Get Valpolini head cover gaskets, problem gone. Is MG cycle a resource in the US ? otherwise I get them from Valpolini in Italy.

Cheers Tom.

I gotta get-me some o' them to replace my very thin ,original, green composites. :oldgit:

@Freedom, be diligent not to overtighten the valve covers and tighten in steps using a "star pattern."

The valve cover gasket surely looks like your leak.

Perfect time for a "Decent Tune-up" . . .

Not sure I am skilled enough to try it, but willing to give it a shot.

Mg Cycles is only about 100 miles from where he lives in Chicago.:bike:

Yeah, those are the green OEM composite that many call "paper."  I didn't learn until recently that the metal-core gaskets for the 2-valve 1200 fit our square fin. No doubt, the metal-core gaskets are the best and most durable available. Of course they are double the money.

Almost $12US instead of $6.50. ;)
