RichP Posted October 1, 2022 Posted October 1, 2022 Hi, I've a new 2002 V11 LeMans which has about 8K miles on it. It runs well and rides great but has an oil leak on the right hand side which seems to be coming from the plastic pipe that goes from the airbox to the throttle body. It drips down onto the transmission on the plug that is behind the speedo connection. I've done some research and it seems like it might be a crankcase ventilation issue, but before I tear into the bike I thought I'd ask if anyone has had the same issue. and how you fixed it. Thanks in advance for any assistance. Rich 69 V700 74 Eldo Police 02 V11 LeMans (Champagne)
footgoose Posted October 1, 2022 Posted October 1, 2022 I've had similar issues on two V11. Both were the crankcase ventilation tube. The pasta they are made of doesn't like oil and heat so they disintegrate. The leak can start at the top clamp and run down and drip on various cables and such and can appear to come from 'wherever". The most common spot to fall apart is at the lower hose clamp and then drips down the sides to wherever it wants to go. 3 1

RichP Posted October 1, 2022 Author Posted October 1, 2022 Thanks, I'll order a new breather hose asap. Appreciate the input. Rich
footgoose Posted October 1, 2022 Posted October 1, 2022 replacing it is a win win. Even if that isn't the leak source, the original tube will fail so, good to rule it out. 3 1
