I'm thinking that might be an (early) 2002 judging by the original (1999-2001) Sport sidecover decals?

so true docc. Clearly '02 config.  I had to check the archives. I labeled it '03, makes me think it was advertised that way or . Anyway... carryover color? one of my faves! Doesn't @antmanbee have one of these?

Yep, 100% the same as my 2003 that I assume was built in 2002, but I’ll dig the frame no out when I get home from my current overseas trip ..

My Rosso Corsa was registered in 2003. I’d be intrigued to know if there was a point when the factory was producing the “carryover” sport in parallel with the long tank (no chinpad) Le Mans. I’ll check the frame no when I return home

I would own every version....:P:

I did once harbor strange thoughts of actually doing this, and earlier this year I had to stop myself responding to a Ballabio advert, as I knew there would be a good chance in it joining the rest.. which are 2 red frames, the carryover, and 2 black frame long tanks. Bonkers really & I’d like to get a  Triumph Scrambler in the next couple of years before I have to downsize to a Honda cub or something similar due to age & arthritic joints :oldgit: And the Griso isn’t going anywhere until the dreaded downsizing becomes a reality

I see a post by @motortouring showing a Burgundy side cover on his bike which he said was manufactured in 2001 which would make this would be one of the earliest carryover models. The switchgear changed somewhere in at a guess late 2001 or early 2002. I have seen a  Champagne Le Mans with the same switchgear as the original Sports and Rosso Mandellos but later ones had the newer switchgear. The question that needs answering is has anyone seen what is accepted as the carryover 2002 model available in Grey, Burgundy and Lemon/Lime with the earlier switchgear? If there is such a beast this would mean this configuration was manufactured from late 2001 until early 2003.

According to 02 V11"s SN , his bike should be a 2003 . Is the 10th character the yr of production ?

@gstallons you are correct, but I have always called it from day one of ownership a 2002. When the bike arrived in 2004 the "new" 2003 model was available. The 2003 model as we know sports many changes, amongst these are satin cases, an exhaust crossover, lengthened tank, ITI gauges with different paint schemes . My bike although it was made in early 2003 is not representative of what I call a 2003 model. To avoid any confusion around which iteration mine was I decided to a call it a 2002 model.

So far, we can say that the "Carryover Sport" was built from late 2001 (likely the earliest of the LongFrame before the first V11 Lemans) through 2003 (perhaps all through 2003?) in the 2002 V11 configuration.

1) If you have this "Carryover" configuration, regardless of the year in the VIN, order parts for a 2002 V11.

2) Still looking for evidence of a 2003 (VIN) V11 Sport in the later (last) V11 configuration seen as 2004 features. Anyone?

I do have one that fits the description. There was crinkly paint on the engine/trans and it has the padded tank.
