cash1000 Posted January 2, 2023 Author Posted January 2, 2023 Got gearbox out yesterday after pulling 1/2 the bike to bits. Will try Petes suggestion of trying to rotate input & output shafts in all gears to determine if gearbox damaged 3
cash1000 Posted January 2, 2023 Author Posted January 2, 2023 Input shaft rotates freely in neutral & 1/4 turn when in gear. Output shaft only moves 3 teeth in any gear. Its differcult to change select gears above 2nd. Conclusion damage is in gearbox. Is it worth taking rear cover of g/b off to see if damage is in there? 1

Expand Or just leave it to the fellows with the special tools? I admit it would be tempting to have a look inside . . . These are the nefarious recall parts: Otherwise, as @pete roper said, "Perhaps the nuts on the end of the shafts have loosened/spun off? That was the issue with the last V11 box I was buggering about with . " 1

Expand Imo...Send it to Pete, obviously its the gearbox right? ...and put a new clutch in while you have it out, best time to eliminate that potential problem (I assume you have the aluminum flywheel?). Best of luck!! 1

docc Posted January 3, 2023 Posted January 3, 2023 While the gearbox is out, good time to address a couple other important areas: First, of course, is to disassemble the clutch to get eyes on the surface of the flywheel to inspect for cracks where it bolts to the crankshaft (image from Scura, c. 2016, crankshaft/forward side): Also, a good time to assess/address the various leak sources in that space: 1 1 1
docc Posted January 4, 2023 Posted January 4, 2023 Okay, well, a couple other things . . . Of course, a look/change of the swingarm bearings and that bloody-farking front UNI-joint . . . 1

cash1000 Posted January 4, 2023 Author Posted January 4, 2023 I'm off to talk to Vince Burrell about the gearbox who runs Guzzi Cafe near home. I think he only works on pre V11 Guzzis but worth the visit. 1
