Guest bshpilot Posted June 14, 2004 Posted June 14, 2004 ..bla...a lot of bla...bla... Héy it’s about my money and if gasstation “A” is cheaper then gasstaion “B” I wil go to gasstation “A”. I ask myself if you are greeted when you ride your bike in your t-shirt??? i dont need my ego stroked at the gas statio....i fill up and i leave...i dont need a greeting, nor do i want one....its about riding to me even if there were a fuel station attendant they wouldnt provide any value to me...i wouldnt let 'em touch the dip stick on my cars, truck or bikes.
Guest bshpilot Posted June 14, 2004 Posted June 14, 2004 Thank you bshpilot for your somewhat skewed logic. You will have to explain in plain terms the gas station argument though. I buy gas locally and it is not the cheapest, but I want the station to stay open and it is the only way I can help that situation. As for your duty to your family and saving money, we all have that responsibility but your unique argument is not helped by the expansive vehicular list under your avatar thats funny. skewed is subjective i guess....i shopped around for the bikes just like i do parts... i can shop parts cause i wrench on my own stuff...its not practical for me to drive 100 miles one way to a dealer and leave my bike. i dont see the value in paying a dealer 60 dollars to remove a wheel, mount & balance a tire...its a rediculous sum of money for something i can do myself. value is in what you FEEL...a deal to you might not be a deal to me....
Guest vkerrigan Posted June 14, 2004 Posted June 14, 2004 Gentlemen.........This topic was addressed not too long ago in a Rider magazine article authored by Clement Salvadori. As with this thread, the response was somewhat emotional pro and con. I think with all the turmoil and distress in this country caused by "outsourcing", NAFTA, etc....many people are asking themselves if its just about the bottom line or does the human element enter into this equasion at all. I personally prefer to give the local vendor my business IF that vendor acts in a courteous and professional manner and his prices are not outside the norm. Loyalty is a two way street. That said, there are other items that are more feaseable to purchase over the internet (they only sell Aerostich jackets through Aerostich). Seems to me its like most things in this world......a little balance is needed.
Guest bshpilot Posted June 14, 2004 Posted June 14, 2004 i agree COMPLETELY....there are some that are more helpful than others and i try to support my area shops... i never said (or suggested) that i (or anyone else) mail order everything... some of these mail order places are problematic at best....and those that are dont get my biz anymore than some dealer that over charges or insists on charging retail...especially if im a repeat/established customer. i give a service to my dealers too, when i attend shows...new products catch my eye...and some dealers and i have worked together to order the new and become more familar w/ the pros/cons of these items....but again those types are few and FAR between

Cheers
Guest bshpilot Posted June 17, 2004 Posted June 17, 2004 no anger here...ive run into a few great dealers...and not always are they the cheapest.... i offered up an alternative for tires....someone didnt like the fact that it was web or mail order and started a rant about no supporting dealers. i offered up an analogy that was apparently lost...and at this point i neither care or think its important. if ive had good experiance w/ a dealer or have an alternative for helping some one save time or money ill exercise my right to speak up... same as the rest of yall
TX REDNECK (R.I.P.) Posted June 17, 2004 Posted June 17, 2004 My local gas station doesn't carry motorcycle tires

antonio carroccio Posted July 20, 2004 Posted July 20, 2004 Does anybody know something about Metzeler Sportec M1? Performance? Lifetime? Wet? Dry? Curl? ciao
al_roethlisberger Posted July 20, 2004 Posted July 20, 2004 If I recall, Mike Stewart ran them before the Diablos, prefers the Diablos. That's all I can really say though from memory. You might want to ping him. al
antonio carroccio Posted July 21, 2004 Posted July 21, 2004 I ride Diablo too, but after 7000km is the rear tyre not that new anymore. I know a dealer who has a good offer on the Metzeler. So I was thinking..... Thanx AL.
rossojoj Posted July 21, 2004 Posted July 21, 2004 Does anybody know something about Metzeler Sportec M1?Performance? Lifetime? Wet? Dry? Curl? ciao Hi I have the Sportec M1 on my new Ballabio. After 1250km I would say: Performance: first class, best tyre I have yet tried. Wet: not much experience but so far very good Dry: Stable, sticky absolutely solid in corners. Lifetime: probably not good; wearing fast! Curl: no idea what this means, sorry A slightly different question: The papers for the V11 Sport in Germany list 170/60VR17 as an option for the rear tyre, instead of 180/55. Apart from the small saving in price would there be any advantage to trying a narrower tyre? Has anyone ridden the V11 Sport with the smaller size and would they recommend it? thanks Jonathan
gthyni Posted July 21, 2004 Posted July 21, 2004 with 4.5" rims (up to 2001) you should use 160 wide tyres on 5.5" rims (2002 and on) 180 would be optimal
