Guest John T Posted June 12, 2004 Posted June 12, 2004 Yesterday I was out with the boys tearing up the farmlands of NY and really spanked the Rosso good. New Pirrelli Diablos really surprised me with stable handling and easier to roll the bike over as compared to my Pilot sports. (Diablos are more round than the Pilots) But after a long day and 250 plus miles, the ride home had my ears calling for help. I have custom earplugs and full face so that is not the problem. I think it is a combination of the Stucchi crossover and my 4 year old Mistral small round CF pipes. (I think they have had it) Even my Ducati friend told me that when I get on it it is LOUD. Getting more raspy at rpms and very "chuffy" on over run. Bottom line. Looking for new pipes. Options: Giannellis? (still like cf) Gussi Ti exhaust. (I'll take the new ecu) FBF? Leo vince? (Al?) What I want is that deep baritone sound, no rasp. Will the bigger diameter oval pipes reduce sound somewhat? Yes I did a search and no reall answers there. lets re-hash this again please.
Paul Minnaert Posted June 12, 2004 Posted June 12, 2004 You can fill them up again, as they are almost empty now. That's the easy( cheap) way. The longer and more diameter helps damping, so lets out less high tones. What is sounding very good are Bos mufflers, deas mototec sells then for the v11. You can look for muflers that have an insertable db eater, lets you adjust the sound level. Or http://www.laserexhausts.com, they have a duotech, thet has 2 levels, legal and open, depandinng on the insert that's in it. http://www.daes-mototec.de/ http://www.bos-exhausts.com
al_roethlisberger Posted June 12, 2004 Posted June 12, 2004 I don't have a recording handily available of the Leo Vince cans, but I've been very happy with them Nice deep tone..... and not horribly loud like some. al
Guest rotorhead Posted June 13, 2004 Posted June 13, 2004 I still lean towards the Staintunes.........there beautiful cans that sound great A resource for you http://www.cbtimports.com/ but shop around.
Lex Posted June 14, 2004 Posted June 14, 2004 I'll second the vote for Staintunes. Very nice looks, much more production looking than most aftermarket stuff. With the touring restrictors in place they are pretty reasonable for sound. Just to give you my idea of reasonable, I didn't buy the Mistrals because I found them to be too loud. With the restrictors out they are a little quieter than new Mistrals but not a whole lot. I have my restrictors permanently installed but some might like the ability to pick your noise output on a given ride, it takes a few seconds to put them in or remove them. Another source I found to be a bit cheaper than Kari and his rip-off team at CBT: Motor Sports Network Lex
Guest northend Posted June 15, 2004 Posted June 15, 2004 My vote.....M-4's (carbon fiber) from Harpers are very nice. Pretty quiet when cruising and a nice mellow tone when on it
GuzzTim Posted June 15, 2004 Posted June 15, 2004 I like loud... Does that mean I need the Bub system??? and I'm not kidding .. a twin like this needs to sing like Caruso ..
TX REDNECK (R.I.P.) Posted June 15, 2004 Posted June 15, 2004 I like loud... Does that mean I need the Bub system??? and I'm not kidding If you like LOUD, then the Bub's are for you, or have Cap'n Enzo design you a set I've heard the Bub's on a Centauro & they will make your ears bleed
Guest robbrugg Posted June 15, 2004 Posted June 15, 2004 What the heck is the "bub system"? If it makes your ears bleed, I am interested.
bento Posted June 15, 2004 Posted June 15, 2004 tiny and starting right where your cross-over should, if i'm not mistaken.
Mike Stewart Posted June 16, 2004 Posted June 16, 2004 What the heck is the "bub system"? If it makes your ears bleed, I am interested. Yep, they are LOUD! Just make sure you stay behind me. Mike
