Well, I didn't DO anything to my Lemans today... that will probably be a few months later after some other projects get under control, but I did spend some money on it.  To offset some of those costs, I also have been selling a number of bits that aren't relevant (such as old fuel tank parts from my tank experiments all those years ago) and other extras after going through my 5 tubs of spare parts and accessories  :bike:

 

It's been discussed here before, but apparently MG only had the oil-cooler guard/cover on the V11 Sport early-on, then it disappeared.  So they can be harder to find, especially new.  

After looking for one of these for nearly 20 years that wasn't astronomically priced, I found one that was brand new and just nearly not quiiiiite astronomically priced ^_^  ...coming from Italy, of course.

With that in mind, it might be nice to see some photos of how it is mounted from the factory on anyone's bikes, or via an image from a service manual exploded view.  

 

I also picked up a set of different head guards from jjkpguzzi, Joe Kenny on eBay and also posts on Wildguzzi, just to change things up after 20 years.

Early mounting brackets were alloy and cracked. There were steel warranty replacement suppplied.

(I'm looking for a better pic, but here is a start) . . .

Note the rubber isolation dampers:

Seems this warty part only gets in the view when there is a picture of "something else" . . .

The screen stands off the surface of the oil cooler.

Exploded views are in the Parts Catalog . . . page 76, "Code 34.43."

Sorry, I'm not finding any images of the mounting.  Another view with the mounting horning in like your crazy uncle doing a photo crash . . .

Yep, must use the 1999-2001 Parts Catalog. No screen was fitted after the early Sports.

The most specific image I could find, also the most blurry . . .

Well, yeah. These things probably cost a billion Lire back in the day. (A dollar and a half in today's money . . . )

Well, comparing those two parts manual images, it appears that the screen/grill/guard just simply hooks over the studs of the oil-cooler and then is clamped between the oil-cooler and rubber mounting grommet/isolators.  It may be as easy as that...  We'll see.

docc, what on earth is that microphone supposed to be achieving with that orientation in that position? It really makes absolutely no sense at all....:huh2:

Well, yes. But the microphone is "listening", approximately, to the right hand mirror going by the direction it is pointing. :huh2:

The Shure55 is just posing (handsomely) with the V11's cylinder fins. :sun:

Looks like the rubber isolators are "captured" in the bracket holes and stand the brackets off the side of the cooler that way.

Ok, if it is officially "just posing", I guess I can live with that. :)

 

I get a bit annoyed when I see people not taking the tools of my trade seriously. As if doing sound were something that doesn't require any specialist knowledge. Ha f---ing ha. B)
